life in black and white

in #photography6 years ago

as a 65 years oldw oman finding pictures in black and white rally gives me so much joy. Way back then in the 1970s to own even the cheapest of a camera is a status symbol. In the small and obscure town of Catbalogan only but a few owns a camera not to mention that there was no shop to develop the negatives. One has to travel .One has to travel 12 hours by slow boat my olds often called as floating coffins to Tacloban City where the nearest Kodak ...the leading brand then will develop it.No colored pictures , just a choice of Sepia (brown ) and black and white and it takes days before it could be develop and in great contrast to our digital cameras now.

We were or i was just lucky , because back then we have Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Mormon) young missionary . They would take our pictures and give it to us as birthday, christmas, new year or graduation gifts.

One of the grief i have with Super Typhoon Yolanda is the destruction of our 100 or plus albums. No matter ho we safe keep it some wee destroyed by the flood and the rai and the moist. I am just so lucky to keep a few precious picuture and this is one of those.

This picture is specially extra special. Here are my friends we call barkada way back then..Some names i cant remember and they are scattered all over the world. Some married Australians , AMericans and European. I stay in Tacloban city , retired and reminscing those days5089_1097111144988_3224321_n.jpg
