Daffodils (Narcissus) are the among the earliest flowers to bloom, an herald of Spring, symbols of "rebirth" and renewal and thus perfect to celebrate new cycles and beginnings. This is a picture taken yesterday when I was hiking. Though the forest is wintry and bare, clusters of yellow daffodils brought colour to it. The bulbs have endured the slumber of Winter... they are a sign of the "resilience" of Nature, coming in longer and more vivid clusters every Spring. Such frail beauty inspires so much strength. New life growing from the barren land... It tells you life was not gone but dormant.
In Wales there is a legend that says that if you see the first Daffodil blooming you will be blessed with wealth for the rest of the year... These may not be the first and wealth has many shapes and faces that are not related with money... I have found it in their golden petals and the lesson they convey, also in the love of people who care about me.
In Victorian times they were also used as a symbol of friendship so this daffodil I'm holding is for you my "friends" here., the ones that have supported me and make me find my place here.

I posted some time ago my song The Waking of the Spring on a previous post but now it is when it feels it is finally here. I will try to write a longer post about our hiking adventures yesterday because we had lovely encounters with mossy creatures. :)

Here in Bulgaria they have a wonderful tradition called Baba Marta celebrated on March 1st.
The folklore is Baba Marta or Grandmother March as she is called does her spring cleaning, ready for spring. We all wear a red and white band around our wrist on the first of march which we give to each other, then when Baba shakes her rugs the snow represents the dust off the rugs. Then as the snow goes and we see either the first spring flower or stork, we hang our martenitsi bands on a tree, to keep the bad spirits away.
Aww that is such a beautiful tradition and I love all the folklore about it. I will be looking it up. I collect books with myths and traditions. Thanks for sharing :)
I have been to Bulgaria 3 times and I love seeing the red and white bands hanging in the trees. I haven't been there at the right time of year to see the storks...next time!

I actually do most of the time, but I wear leggins and hiking boots underneath. Sometimes I bring with me more complicated garments for photoshoots but these were my actual hiking garments for the day and had not even intention to take pictures. Unless there are heights you will find me always with wispy skirts or dresses, lol. I am a minstrel haha Spring and Summer I wear layered greens mostly.

Thank you, aren´t they so frail and beautiful... we have had a slow onset of Spring here. I hiked again two days ago and we got lost in the forest (literally) that was another thrilling experience, :) gathering pics to write the post :) Thanks for joining my Nature adventures. :)
