Now for pur daily shots which is about our trek while on our way to Mount Kabunian summit in Bakun Benguet. Our early morning hike to Mount Kabunian began at the break of dawn with the air crisp and cold carrying the promise of adventure. At five o'clock we met our guide who's been waiting there already, a local who knew the trails like the back of his hand like many other guides. We set off with the stillness of the morning broken only by the noise of our boots on the trail. The world felt quiet as if we were the only ones awake.
As we walked, the first daylight began to paint the clear sky. We soon reached a sign pointing the way to Mount Kabunian which a reminder that our journey had only just begun.
The trail ahead was long and winding through lush forests of weeds and open ridges but the anticipation kept us moving while catching our breaths, especially the wife. The cold morning air bit at our nose trills but the warmth of our excitement and anticipation kept us going.
About two hours into the hike, we reached a vantage point that took our breath away. The sun was rising and casting a golden glow over the Cordillera mountains.
The sky was a canvas of painting and the peaks around us stood tall and majestic. We stopped several times to capture the moment with our phones, snapping photos of the breathtaking sunrise and the landscapes that stretched endlessly before us.
Each pause was a chance to catch our breath, hydrate and feel awesomeness at the beauty of nature. The mountains seemed to tell stories of ancient times and the cool breeze carried the scent of pine trees around us and earth.
Despite the physical challenge, the halfway hike felt like a spiritual journey already even if we haven't reached the top yet. The moment reconnected us with the untouched beauty of the Cordillera region. By the time we continued, we felt a sense of gratitude and awe and now ready to face the rest of the trek with renewed energy.
