I love bluegrass music, there's just something about it that hits right and the musicianship of some of the artists is off the charts.
But I'm not here to sell you on bluegrass, though I am going to talk a bit about a new release by legendary bluegrass artist, Dan Tyminski.
You may not know bluegrass but I bet you've heard the song Man of Constant Sorrow by the Soggy Bottom Boys, a fictional band from a movie featuring George Clooney. Well, the voice on that song is the voice of bluegrass artist, Dan Tyminski.
Anyhow, that's not the song I want to talk about today, the song is a song that was actually written and recorded by Avicii back in 2012. That song also features the vocals of one Dan Tyminski.
However, that's not the version of the song I want to talk about 🙃
The version I'm talking about today is from his new album, God Fearing Heathen, and it's smooth as silk and just so good!
I don't recall hearing the Avicii techno version so when I heard this new version it was for the first time and damn, I was immediately hooked. The lyrics give me the feels for sure and his singing is just so velvety smooth.
I've been listening on repeat and have probably heard it about 30 times today. The lyrics are easy to figure out and there are a couple people in my life that I think of when I hear this song and it just brings a tear to me eye
Give it a listen and see if it moves you. For added points see if it applies to anyone in your life, double points if you tear up ;)

She comes from generations of musicians. Her grandad played the upright bass and then mom and she got into music when she was really young, like 6. She's really incredible.

Great song. I like bluegrass myself. Bill Monroe, Flats and Scruggs, Ricky Skaggs. Think I used to have some of their stuff around here somewhere. All generes are listened to in my old playlists depending on my mood.
Yep, I'm the same, love most types of music. As I get older I find myself searching out older music as well. For example, I never really choose to listen to the blues, it's fine just never a choice, until I found a show called Front Porch that plays only acoustic blues. Now I'm hooked on these oldtimers from the 40s and 50s playing a guitar and a washtub base and singing the bluesyest blues I've ever heard ;)

oh, I bet that is awesome. I have to check that out. I love listening to old blues. So much of modern music owes its roots to blues and jazz.
I read Avici wrote it and on that song Dan did the lyrics on his (Avici's) request.
Hence the "techno" version is quite similar.

Yeah, Avici was a talent for sure. I did listen to the techno track when writing this post but it was after I heard the new recording. Interesting. Surprised I never have heard it before.
