For years hive does the exact opposite and clearly it's working ! And pretty much all decisions are even at current prices decided by one person.

I honestly think “quality” is often overestimated here. A 1,000-word post can be great and still get ignored, while a few lines can pull hundreds of views and comments. Maybe engagement and connection matter more than word count or how “polished” something looks.
I remember having to adjust to the norm of writing at least 250 words for my artwork xD
I often wrote more anyway, but sometimes I really hated having to do it.
Many of the things cited there are peoole doing that but it isn’t enough. The idea to overwrite someones upvote was retarded since day 1. And make downvotes free makes it even more retarded. I did downvote some abuser ( one of acidyos friends) and he got a mental breakdown because of it. Was really funny and i was close to power up way more ( i mean is dirt cheap) to troll a bit.

We are in the same exact boat we were in on Steemit. It’s just different people lining their pockets on this hardfork. That’s why they wanted it, to financially benefit from it. They only care of themselves. I’ve been on Steemit/Hive for over a decade now. I’ve never once got a whale vote on any post I’ve ever done. I’ve had numerous amount of posts with over 600 plus words, I spent over an hour per day in the past writing posts. For what?????
I wrote multiple posts about that issue. Every serious investor before investing in Hive checks the token issuance rate and is not amused by the idea of 20 or so million dollars sitting and waiting for someone to convert it to Hive (buying Hive on the internal market would at least bring Hive price up a bit)
There are so many things that went wrong, but I do agree that it's pretty much decided by a few people, and that DHF just extracted a ton of money out of the system. So many things failed, and the people making the decisions never thought about why they failed.
Splinterlands did a lot for onboarding and retention of people on Hive until that also went south. I think everything currently wrong with the ecosystem is from the high up. Just like a country with corrupt officials, lots of looting, institutions become weak and there's no rule of law, so the citizens do what they must to survive.
