If crypto is about challenging the status quo - why are so few projects truly prioritizing user privacy? Should more focus on empowering users?

"Privacy-focused cryptocurrencies currently account for a small fraction of the total crypto market capitalization, approximately 0.69% as of November 2025. The total market cap for all privacy coins is approximately $24-68 billion, while the entire crypto market is valued at over $3.5 trillion. " - www.bitget.com

Do you think the crypto movement has shifted from being the antithesis of fiat ? Crypto was a means to put power back into the citizens of the world and control over their resources.

Should more cryptocurrencies be focused on privacy going into 2026?

Crypto is not about privacy originally speaking. It was about commerce and unfortunately it hasn't been successful either. Very few commerce is done through crypto. And not many coins have really created technology to be able to, let say, subscribe to digital services or get credit lines for purchase of goods and services.

Most of the internet business models like advertising (cpm, cpv etc) micropayments, subscription models, or secure transfer of shipping data, or independent escrow services hasn't really been successfully addressed by crypto and their Blockchains.

Yet most crypto people are super focused on trying to make it a tool for off internet models like regular person (not companies) to person transfers which is also irrelevant.
