Did you know soap grows on trees? (And other botanical oddities.)

No, this is not shameless click bait. There really IS a tree species, called Saponaria detergens, the fruit of which can be used as soap! Basically, it's a detergent tree.

Sadly, these trees are tropical, so many of us are stuck going to the store for our soap, instead of just going out to our back yard. But it is further proof that God thought of everything when He created the world. ^_^

But wait! The world gets weirder!

Did you know that there are little pink bananas? That are not GMOs? Also true! Musa velutina!

How cool is that? However, they are full of seeds, so you may not want to eat them.

This fractal broccoli, however (Romanesco), you can eat!

(Because eating math is much more enjoyable for most of us than DOING it.)

Once in a while it's good to stop and explore the wonders of nature around us. It reminds us that there is more to life than what you can fit in your wallet. The greatest work of art is the one around us!

What are your favorite natural things?
