Today’s Common Plant Problem ~ Spider Mites!

I’m starting with the basics but eventually I would like to get into more complex common problems that people have, like blossom end rot and powdery mildew ❤️
Knowing what’s happening early can help you heal your plants and save your crops!
Prevention and attention to detail is generally key, so a lazy gardener like me has seen every kind of pest and disease there is 😂
I want to pass my experience on to you!! ❤️

These teeny little bugs can cause enormous destruction if left alone.
Neem oil works fairly well if you spray it on regularly.
The verdict seems to still be out on whether neem oil is safe for use on cannabis, since spider mites are super common pests on cannabis I thought I should mention it!
Other predatory mites are a great option, but definitely work better as a preventative.
If you’re growing indoors, you’ll most likely end up with spider mites at some point.
If you can contain the affected plant right away you can sometimes limit spread.
Since they enjoy a very wide variety of different plants they will happily spread around if allowed.

I will never encourage the use of pesticides as they are counterintuitive to the very nature of growing plants in the first place.

If it’s a bad case of spider mites in your houseplants, your best bet is to start over if you can.
If they’re outside, trim them off and dispose of them, then encourage other predatory creatures to your garden, ladybugs and other beetles, lacewings and even yellow jackets can be your best friend when gardening!
If it’s in your cannabis, I have smoked Spider mite weed and I’m still alive and I got just as high 😂
Funky taste, but not too bad!

Ive never had mites before, but I have had thrips, and they where such a pain. I use a citric acid based spray that works great, but i do not spray no later then 17 days in flower.

For my outdoor plants, I plant marigolds since they attract predatory bugs.

I’ve had thrips too!! They’re brutal. In the fall I’m a sucker for bringing in plants from outside LoL
This past year I decided to try and fight nature with nature inside the plant Room, there’s predatory mites and lady bugs but without all the others the plants have been a little overrun and have needed to be washed off or chucked out depending on what it is. The cannabis plants were safe, I just had some aphid issues but got that under control eventually LoL
