Devnet as the name states, it's a test phase that goes alongside a network mainnet where ever action performed can be replicated on the said network mainnet with ease and little to no correction.
This allows developers, builders, and the entire community to play or work around a said network without bearing any form of financial mistake or mismanagement, as all token issued via Devnet is worth nil and can be easily generated at any given time with just a click of a button.
Prior to now, PlatON Devnet was operating under Devnet2 which was until the recent development which reads,
The PlatON Devnet2 testing network has been disabled, and the Devnet3 testing network based on PlatON version 1.5.1 has been officially launched.
In summary, PlatON's Devnet2 testing network was disabled, which led to the launch of Devnet3 based on PlatON version 1.5.1.
PlatON v1.5.1 have been mentioned on some of our previous writeup, alongside some of it's updated/improved features, do well to check it out.
PlatON Devnet2 was halted this past December (2025) and Devnet3 was launched as part of PlatON technological advancements in December 2025.
Getting started is similar to Devnet2 as users simply need to create a customized network setting via Metamask,
- Network Name: PlatON DevNet3
- New RPC URL: https://devnet3openapi.platon.network/rpc
- Chain ID: 20250407
- Currency Symbol: LAT
- Block Explorer URL: https://devnet3scan.platon.network/
Or simply search for PlatON configuration via metamask here https://platonnetwork.github.io/docs/en/MetaMask/
Once done, you might need to get some LAT faucet to get started with, reminder all asset generated via Devnet is nil and does not equate to any amount physical or digitally.
