I reached out to Ed Maguire, Insights Partner at Momenta Partners to learn just what they mean by the term Connected Industry. (or we could all nod our heads seriously and not admit we’re clueless.) Let’s see what Ed had to say.
MD: So tell us, what do you mean by the Connected Industry? What does that encompass?
Ed Maguire: The term IoT, like M2M (Machine to Machine), is a broad term that’s become so broadly applied as to lose its meaning. Connected Industry is a term that describes not just connecting data to physical assets and analyzing the data, but the organizational and business aspects of digital transformation. We are increasingly connected as individuals and we will expect to see major changes as industry becomes connected as well.
MD: And the new podcast, The Momenta Edge Podcast - what will you cover and who might we expect to hear from in the the guest lineup.
Ed Maguire: Our first speaker is Tony Seba, author of Clean Disruption of Energy and Transportation. He’s a terrific thinker who forecasts the economics of solar, batteries, autonomous cars and EVs, and he makes hard predictions about when we will see sudden changes (hint: it’s sooner than you might think). Other guests include David Bauer, the first Chief Information Security Officer of Morgan Stanley and Merrill Lynch, companies like Davra Networks talking about IoT platforms and blockchain, Nick Gogerty, founder of Solar Coin and author of The Nature of Value and other authors, thinkers and do-ers in tech, industry and finance.
