HELLO STEEMIT!

We start off tonight with what's going on around the homestead. The veggie garden is growing like crazy and we are pulling as much out as possible.

Right now we are harvesting sweet potatoes, corn and lots of raspberries and the rain is keeping the homestead growing.

Demolition Ranch has put out a call to help out a buddy who lost his health insurance after finding out he has a tumor in his brain. They are selling shirts to help raise money for his treatment. The site is: https://makeeverycastcount.com

Forbes had an article out this past week that angered a lot of homesteaders. We discuss the article and you can read it here. https://www.forbes.com/sites/modeledbehavior/2017/07/29/the-delusion-of-self-reliant-off-the-grid-living/#422649fd343d

Also, the Swedish Homestead is under threat of their homestead being closed. We discuss that on the podcast.

Thank you for sharing this post. This type of thing can happen anywhere, in any country. Governments and big business are becoming more greedy by the day. The rich are getting richer, the poor poorer and the middle guy is getting squeezed out. Government has too much controll as it is.

Thanks for the comment!

That would be an example of why I don't read Forbes much

Those markets are manipulated anyway....plunge protection team ready to go...I like the crypto market...so much unpredictability that you know its real....at least for now.

Enjoyed being part of this last night, as always. I find it interesting to think that most of the world's perception of homesteaders and off-grid folk stems from the media portrayal/Little House on the Prairie show mentality. Perhaps they'll never "get" it because I'm guessing most folks who would be willing to go on-air and be dictated to and controlled aren't really homesteaders. Don't we all homestead because we DON'T want to be controlled?

It would be interesting if the author of that article could actually visit a functioning homestead, like Doug&Stacey's, An American Homestead, Becky's Homestead, Rain Country. Instead of using his mere netflix-research, he might get a much-needed education and change his tone!

I totally agree!

Shared to get others to see it!

I thought it was really funny how most of his assumptions were completely wrong, not just because his idea of homesteading was obviously from tv but because his knowledge of how the world works was completely faulty. How he can completely ignore the fact that homesteaders have to pay taxes or that they legally have to have health insurance or they get fined just like any other american citizen. It leads me to believe that he's either an idiot or was writing an article about illegal immigrants and got confused 😂
