It stole the oak tree's leaves aways.
Then snapped it's boughs and pulled it's bark.
Until the oak was tired and stark.
But still the oak tree held it's ground.
While other threes fell all around.
The wear wind gave up and spoke,
"How can you still be standing, Oak?"
The oak tree said: " I know that you
can break each branch of mine in two,
carry every leaf aways,
shake my limbs, and make me sway.
But I have roots stretched in the earth,
Growing stronger since my birth.
You'll never touch them, for you see,
They are the deepest part of me.
Until today, I wasn't sure
of just how I could endure.
But now I've found, with thanks to you.
I'm stronger than ever knew."

Those kind of portrayals always scare me a bit. You created a very excellent interpretation of such strong, chilling circumstance and though I don't like to admit (no one does!) that I would would be one of the trees that breaks and falls as it's seemed to me that lesser things have sent me to the edge. I also know that I won't be a poet - I try never to be so introspective on things that freak me out like this! I guess I'm introspective enough to have come to that conclusion.
On the other hand, I found a new blogger, @ofildutemps, who has just started making transcriptions of her grandfather's letters which he wrote while soldiering in WWI. You may be interested enough to take a look. He writes so expressively with such beautiful wording that despite the subject, his letters are art.
