Don't Pray for Peace

in #poertry7 years ago (edited)

Don't pray for peace...
Just to say these words
Goes against the grain of what I've learned
But the Lord helps those who help themselves
Or so the proverb goes....
You see, prayer is fine and lovely and good
It can help you learn, grow,
And lend the peace of mind
To accept a bad mood
So its good to pray
For your own heart and soul
Or a friend in dark times
Or even for the Eagles to make the Super Bowl
But praying alone won't fix the world....

Like a good father, the Lord doesn't spoil
By giving us things we don't work for,
For He gave us the tools,
Two hands, two feet,
And the free will to Create
As we see fit....
So, please, don't pray for peace,
Instead get off your couch
and go Achieve ;)

For those of you who don't know, I am a wanderer set on exploring the depths of the soul. As a Creator, I have found it my mission to help spread Love in an unkind world, and to teach what I've come to know. What I strive for is to send out ripples, sharing thoughts of the magic, the myth, and the legacy passed down to us by the hippies of old.
I am The Spirit Within, the voice that Inspires us to rise above the illusions of this chaotic world.

There is a saying in Turkish that goes like this "çalış kulum ben vereyim" , which means "God gives to those who work". I couldn't agree more with what you said, the act of praying and it's effect on us, but often times words won't "travel" all the way up. Actions do. And in order to take action, guess people need to listen to their spirit within :)
