The War on Heavy
Government armed to the teeth
of people standing on high clouds
backed by a decree of their supreme invention,
authorized by the mere intention
of domination at ALL COST.
Blood of all colors, genders, ages
on their hands.
The mouthpieces of the standard American news diet
passed over their sounds of screaming
to offer you a chance to march to something
well-orchestrated,
or sway passionately
to the sound of the newest heart-string cantata
that arrived in a well-packaged canister,
the latest Smith-Mundt issue (not that it needed to).
Three-hundred million plus
tools of murder
on the ground
and the black market price
boosts an epic seller's market
in a socio-economic climate
where poverty catches fire
more quickly than any semblance of wealth.
Got money? Got health?
The War on Drugs still going strong.
Control: is it yours?
Do you feel safe yet?
Can you feel it?
Wanna fix violence? Fix poverty.
It claims more than you and I
can or might imagine,
with increased incentive by the hour,
claiming more still.
The politics of poverty, though,
too complex, too controversial, too heavy.
Like trying to discuss morality with civility.
Like trying to change the world.
But to do that, you'd need weapons of real force.
In the meantime...
