I love writing, especially poetry. I love reading poetry too. I've started a 30 day "Poem of the Day" ritual to encourage myself and others to write poems everyday :) Let's see how it goes!

Here's Poem #4
Is it really okay?
When I travel through the metro city,
I see the number of people that are about,
And it surprises me every time to notice,
They are all so very different.
The world has all sorts of people,
Few who bring about change without fear,
Some who step over others to get ahead,
Many who just blend into the crowd.
What differentiates one from the other?
Is it their actions? Or their words?
Or is it the way they were brought up?
Or just the fact that each person is built differently?
I feel the difference comes from within.
It is you who are in charge of your life.
It is you who has the power to change it.
It is you and only you who can be strong.
People who claim to have conquered fear,
May be afraid of the silliest things,
People who trample over others,
May have been trampled over by others,
And those who just blend in,
They are just afraid of being different.
Then there are people who think they rule the world,
They believe that they can do what they want,
To whomever they want,
And there will be no consequences.
Such people are the reason behind every scared girl in the dark,
Such people are the reason for loss of faith,
Such people are the reason for anger, betrayal,
Such people are the reason for Hate.
So tell me now, is it really okay?
Is it okay to let them have the power?
Is it okay to cower beneath Fear and allow it to rule?
Is it really okay to ever be afraid?
Change is nature and it is in our hands,
Whether we allow people to trample over us,
Or we take the power and change the rules,
Because without each individual effort, the crowd will always remain a crowd,
And Fear will always be at large, and that is not okay.
This poem is dedicated to all the women out there who have ever felt unsafe because of their environment and were not able to do anything about it.
