This Child
This miraculous perfect dream that I could not have conjured
with all of my imagination working overtime
This beautiful little container of hope
this inspiration sprinkler
These little feet thundering across the floor
Straight into my arms
wrapped up in my heart
Overflowing with the kind of beauty things have
when they are exactly what they are meant to be
Chasing bubbles on the wind
creating worlds on the pavement with chalk
Dancing wildly for the joy of movement
because she feels the music
This child
is the music
She loves colors and shapes and silly sounds
She is songs that rhyme and giggles that only cease when dreams take over
To this child
life is nirvana because no one has told her it isn't
I hope they never do
May the magic in her laughter spark a flame that sets the world ablaze
Burning away the darkness
So the future can be as bright as
This child
