My being ignored like I was ethereal.
The books of my life had your name etched deep.
But oh how piteous, that only the blues were mine to keep.
I'm living on borrowed time.
I already gave you the minutes of mine.
The walls of my heart are stained with your name.
And yet our rift has left you fine.
Trampled and sledgehammered,
Lunged into my heart, left me to clamor.
What is it I'm paying the price for,
I try to ask myself as I stammer.
I waited and I waited, I waited till forever,
The forever I thought we'd share, but we wouldn't.
And one day you'll look back on the path we walked.
The thorny road will have left me punctured,
I should have given up on you, but to see a scar on you, I couldn't.
