Moonflower

in #poetry8 years ago

You are the morning glory but you come alive at dusk
At night, you are the bright star of the field but not so bright within
What a beauty to behold under the night sky
There's no escape from your attractive and sparkling brilliance.

Your sweet smelling fragrance makes it hard to perceive danger
You are as white as snow, so no one can really see the red flags

You glitter, feeding the eyes with lies and the mind with trickery
Drawing in the weak to drink from your well of hallucinations.

There, you sat still and blossomed
Nobody could tell that your radiant bloom was just an illusion
You lie in wait to cast an innocent soul into oblivion
A soul that failed to see through the thorny darkness that surrounded your bloom.
