What they said:
“Eyes speak for
the mute.”
But what if,
they thought,
“How can eyes speak?”
A picture:
A 15-year-old girl,
In a semi-dark room,
In a four-poster bed,
With her bag stranded,
On a dirty, tiled floor.
A different perspective:
A girl; and her bag which,
Was snatched and flung away,
By three strangers-
Drunken men, whose hands,
Now groped under her shirt.
The victim’s thoughts:
They’ve tied me, how do I fight?
We were all told to scream,
But what about the Mute?
My eyes bled, of fear and anger in tears,
But they didn’t understand it’s language.
A story:
Three drunkards smirking,
Knowing they could do anything,
Because mutes-
They can’t talk;
Can’t reveal.
