The Markets

in #poetry6 years ago (edited)

The markets went up
and everybody cheered
No pennies for the beggars
When they asked they were jeered

Then the markets headed down
and everybody screamed
Started pulling money out
First it trickled then it streamed

The analysts they say
We'll see green days again
Till then we join the beggars
Holding hands out in the rain

This is cool. I like the way the three stanzas form a dialectic. Good stuff.

Filling out sheets of corrupted pine leaf special brown crusted paper
again waiting longing, lonely choking on air from passing trains
And then just as if the market knew the words we loot,
it spits out the bitter rage in gutter water and french curses,

we are patient dogs too
and our waiting is our real curse,
the end benefits our fattest bone.

i like the movement, its good, and it inspired my follow up lines
