Concrete confessions

in #poetry6 years ago

Lansing correctional facility, the prison I did my time.

If these concrete walls could speak what secrets would they utter?
Tales of crimes and violence to make the brave shudder.
They have listened in silently to the addict the killer the thief.
They heard so many cries full of sorrow regrets and grief.
oh if these concrete walls could speak what would they say?
Probably tales of men and how we lost our way.
Hearing some confessions and some lies as well.
Im innocent i didn't do it the lies on deaf ears fell.
or I've killed in cold blood and now i pay the price.
a living death sentence as i pay with years of life.
oh if these concrete walls could speak what would they show.
The contents of mens sinful hearts things none should know.
but im glad they stay silent and leave me alone.
These secretive concrete walls in this wretched place called home.
for if they spilled their secrets about how the good in men could die, i would loose hope and vie for a lie
and no im not insane although Maybe i am
im just a convict im exile writing poems trying to be a better man
