Sexy poetry from a long time ago, and the time I wrote HENRY ROLLINS an email to read and critique and he responded. ;_;

in #poetry6 years ago (edited)

I have always been a fan of poetry, and I am a hopeless romantic. Somehow poetry and romanticism just go hand in hand...it doesn't seem right to have one without the other.

I was reading a lot of Charles Bukowski, Rumi, Pablo Neruda, Gary Snyder (my personal favorite), and even delved into Henry Rollins' work, and many more. I fucking loved them all. They inspired my little angsty dumbass heart.

Even @ghostfish lured me in with the power of his words in the beginning; moth to a flame, turned to cinder.

Here we are together for 11 years. Yay, us! Our relationship has survived past the length of an average American marriage. LOL

HAHA @ghostfish I done trapped you. JK. :3

We have written poems to each other for a long time.

I. MANILA

Our last night
Writhing, tightly wound,
long-starved for the touch
only you and I could give each other

One night
in a strange and seedy city

the deluge outside
and all around
the streets awash
with foreign sounds

all I could hear
was you, so soft in my ears
and no one else.

II.EAU CLAIRE

It is warm like a womb
and quiet in the water
and we floated around
like we were alone in the world
and our room
with
a view from the 7th floor
is more fun when you're naked
faces softly pressed to the glass
and you're all I see
the city avenue is quiet now

but it still echoes the life you've lived
I miss it with you.

III. TOMAHAWK

All is blue
All is silent
near Lake Nokomis
the silver moon's fingers
shone over our bodies

love
through unshaded windows
for all the world to see

and we laid there,
languid, and sated
without a care

and I, closed my eyes
and loved the sound of you breathing.

I got a wild hair once and decided to send my poetry to motherfucking Henry Rollins after meeting him at the Fitzgerald Theater in St. Paul.

He fucking responded. I was floored. I mean, I'm sure he's a nice man and would never say anything mean about my shitty teen girl poetry but it was nice to read his (succinct) thoughts about my bullshit. LOL

That is indeed, @ghostfish and I meeting Hank of Burnin' Love outside the Fitzgerald Theater.

I leave you with this beautiful snippet from Brazilian poet and vagabond, Vinícius De Moraes:

"simplesmente
De um amor sem mistério e sem virtude
Com um desejo maciço e permanente."

"simply
A love without mystery and without reason
With a massive and permanent desire."

(Soneto Do Amor Total - Vinícius De Moraes)

I hope you guys enjoyed these. Who are your favorite poets? Please recommend them to me!

Thank you so much for reading. <3<3<3

Damn! That's pretty cool he responded, I wouldn't expect him not to I just wouldn't really expect him to have time to read all of his e-mails haha.

Congrats on yalls 11 years!

Thanks bro! I appreciate it. Yeah, I didn't think he would either. I mean, what celebrity person answers emails from a peon? It was a nice surprise he did!
