Fuerteventura wchodzi w skład archipelagu Wysp Kanaryjskich. Po podróży na Teneryfę postanowiliśmy odwiedzić nieco wietrzny, choć równie piękny obszar nieopadal Maroko i Sahary Zachodniej. Fuerta zaskoczyła nas przepiękną pogodą, niesamowitymi widokami, znakomitą kuchnią i przyjazną społecznością.
Fuerteventura is part of the Canary Islands archipelago. After a trip to Tenerife, we decided to visit the somewhat windy but equally beautiful area near Morocco and the Western Sahara. Fuerteventura surprised us with beautiful weather, amazing views, excellent cuisine and a friendly community.
Świetny klimat
Podczas naszego pobytu na wyspie panowały temperatury 26-30 stopni Celsjusza. Jednak nie doświadczyliśmy uczucia duchoty, z jakim zmagamy się w polskich miastach. Wszystko za sprawą delikatnych na co dzień wiatrów i tych bardzo szalonych w najpiękniejszych punktach widokowych. Poniżej możecie podziwiać jeden z nich, na drodze do Bentancurii (dawnej stolicy wyspy). Obok przepięknych wzgórz gdzieś dalej znajduje się dolina porwanych przez wiatr okularów i kapeluszy :)
During our stay on the island, temperatures were 26-30 degrees Celsius. However, we didn't experience the feeling of ghostliness that we face in Polish cities. It's all thanks to the winds, which are gentle on a daily basis, and the very crazy ones at the most beautiful viewpoints. Here you can admire one of them, on the road to Bentancuria (the former capital of the island). Next to the beautiful hills somewhere further is a valley of wind-swept sunglasses and hats :)

Droga do jaskiń Ajuy
Ajuy to bardzo niewielka miejscowość, która skrywa piękne jaskinie. Ta największa – Caleta Negra ma 500 metrów długości. Poza tym znajduje się tu wulkaniczna plaża z ciemnym piaskiem.
Ajuy is a very small town that hides beautiful caves. The largest one has - Caleta Negra is 500 meters long. Besides, there is a volcanic beach with dark sand.
Piękny krajobraz
Fuerteventura zachwyca widokami. To tutaj kręcono Exodus Bogowie i Królowie czy Star Wars. Ponadto z wyspy pochodzi wiele scen znanych z reklam samochodów terenowych. A skoro o autach mowa, na niektóre rejony wyspy samochody z wypożyczalni docierać nie powinny. I faktycznie droga na Cofete jest bardzo niebezpieczna dla podwozia. Regularnie pojawiają się tu lawety.
Fuerteventura is stunning with its views. It was here that Exodus Gods and Kings and Star Wars were filmed. In addition, many scenes known from off-road car commercials originate from the island. Speaking of cars, some areas of the island are not supposed to be reached by rental cars. And in fact, the road on Cofete is very dangerous for the undercarriage. Car transporters regularly appear here.
Cofete
Po drodze do dawnej stolicy wyspy warto zajrzeć na jeden z punktów widokowych. Zdjęcia tego nie oddadzą, lecz to chyba najlepsze widoki, jakie widzieliśmy w całym życiu. W dodatku można tu spotkać wiele wiewiórek, które nieco różnią się od tych rudych widywanych w naszym kraju. Nie tylko wyglądem, ale również tym, że bardzo chętnie podchodzą do turystów.
On the way to the island's former capital, it's worth taking a look at one of the viewpoints. Photos won't do it justice, but these are probably the best views we've seen in our entire lives. In addition, you can meet many squirrels here, which are slightly different from the red ones found in our country.
Po drodze do Betancurii / Road tu Batancuria

Tutaj również bardzo mocno wiało, co widać po roślinności. Im wyżej, tym trudniej zrobić zdjęcie, a przy tym nie zgubić okularów. Mało brakowało i wiatr porwałby nawet kijek do selfie wraz z telefonem. A to wszystko przy dosyć wysokiej temperaturze powietrza.
W tym miejscu zaznaczę, że tak silne wiatry na plażach się nie zdarzają. Dotyczy to jedynie punktów widokowych, więc miłośnicy plażowania na Fuerteventurę mogą śmiało przyjechać. Pogoda była dla nas wręcz idealna i niemal niespotykana na skalę europejską. Podobno tak fajne warunki oferuje również południe Portugalii, co chętnie sprawdzę.
Here it also blew very hard, as you can see from the vegetation. The higher you go, the more difficult it is to take a photo and not lose your glasses. Little by little and the wind would have snatched even the selfie stick along with the phone. And all this while the air temperature was quite high.
At this point I will point out that such strong winds on the beaches do not happen. It only affects the viewpoints, so beach lovers in Fuerteventura can come with confidence. The weather was just perfect for us and almost unprecedented in Europe. Apparently, the south of Portugal also offers such cool conditions, which I am eager to check out.
Betancuria
Betancuria to dawna stolica wyspy. W miasteczku mieszka zaledwie 731 osób. Jego największym atutem była lokalizacja. Betancuria otoczona jest górami, więc nie sposób było ją dostrzec z wrogich statków. Dziś to niezwykle urocze miasteczko z zabytkowym kościółkiem, wspaniałym widokiem, kilkoma spokojnymi knajpkami czy straganami z lokalnymi przysmakami. Mowa tu o kozich serach czy orzechach. Natomiast w restauracji można zjeść kozie mięso, a na wyspie kóz jest więcej niż ludzi :)
Betancuria is the former capital of the island. The town is home to just 731 people. Its greatest asset was its location. Betancuria is surrounded by mountains, so it was impossible to spot it from enemy ships. Today it's an extremely charming town with a historic church, a great view, a few quiet pubs or stalls selling local delicacies. We're talking goat cheese or nuts here. On the other hand, you can eat goat meat in the restaurant, and there are more goats than people on the island :)
Na osobny akapit zasługuje Barraquito, czyli kawa znana na Wyspach Kanaryjskich. Mówi się, że zawiera jakiś tajemny składnik w postaci mieszanki likierów. Nie brakuje jednak głosów, że to po prostu dostępny w tutejszych sklepach likier 43. Obok tego mamy słodzone mleko skondensowane, kawę ze zwykłym mlekiem i śmietankę. Przynajmniej tak mi się wydaje. Likier kupiłem i jeśli napój wyjdzie taki, jak chcę, zamieszczę tu przepis. Kawa sprzedawana w tutejszych restauracjach czy kawiarniach jest przepyszna. Po prostu można się w niej zakochać. No i całkiem miło wygląda.
For a separate paragraph belongs Barraquito, a coffee known in the Canary Islands. It is said to contain some secret ingredient in the form of a mixture of liqueurs. However, there is no shortage of voices that it is simply liqueur 43 available in local stores. Along with this we have sweetened condensed milk and coffee with ordinary milk. At least that's what it seems to me. I bought the liqueur and if the drink comes out the way I want, I will post the recipe here. The coffee sold in restaurants or cafes here is delicious. You can simply fall in love with it. Well, and it looks quite nice.
Wydmy w Corralejo
To naturalny park, który może przypominać Saharę. Z uwagi na wysokie walory przyrodnicze nie można tu budować hoteli (podobnie jak na Cofete). Pomimo tego jeden stoi, bo prawdopodobnie był już budowany w momencie wydania zakazu. Natomiast pobliska plaża stanowi prawdziwy raj dla surferów. Fuerteventura to idealna wyspa dla miłośników sportów wodnych, zwłaszcza w sierpniu, gdy wiatry szczególnie dają się we znaki.
It is a natural park that can resemble the Sahara. Due to its high natural values, hotels cannot be built here (as on Cofete). Despite this, one is still standing, as it was probably being built when the ban was issued. In contrast, the nearby beach is a real paradise for surfers. Fuerteventura is an ideal island for water sports enthusiasts, especially in August, when the winds are especially strong.
Willa Wintera / Winter's House
Historii tego miejsca nie da się streścić w kilku słowach. Zachęcam do wygooglowania, a wspomnę tylko, że przebywali tu naziści, a prawdopodobnie również Hitler. Wiele wskazuje na to, że było to miejsce tortur, a także operacji plastycznych. Naziści mieli z Fuerteventury mogli zmienić wygląd, uciekać do Argentyny i tam dożywać spokojnej starości. Co więcej, nikt nie wie, co znajduje się pod willą. Kiedyś grupa badaczy próbowała to sprawdzić, jednak policja uniemożliwiła zajrzeć do piwnic - oficjalnie z uwagi na brak pozwoleń. Być może zupełnie nic tam nie ma, gdyż takie historie lubią domysły i teorie spiskowe, a może jest tam jakaś baza u-botów, jak twierdzą niektórzy? Warto obejrzeć serial Polowanie na Hitlera, gdyż jeden z odcinków porusza to zagadnienie. Kolejna ciekawa produkcja to Generał Franco.
Dziś problemem willi Wintera jest fakt, że znajduje się w prywatnych rękach. Stacjonuje tu facet, który prowadzi muzeum według własnych preferencji. Oznacza to, że maluje zabytkowe ściany farbą olejną i miesza stare zabytki z nowymi przedmiotami oraz oryginały z podarunkami od zwiedzających. I tak mamy tu instrumenty z czasów drugiej wojny światowej obok telewizora czy kaset muzycznych. Fatalny miszmasz. Bez pomocy przewodnika trudno było mi wskazać, czy odznaczenia bądź mundury są oryginalne.
The history of this place cannot be summarized in a few words. I encourage you to google it, and I will only mention that the Nazis, and probably Hitler, stayed here. There are many indications that it was a place of torture, as well as plastic surgery. Nazis had from Fuerteventura could change their appearance, flee to Argentina and live to a peaceful old age there. Moreover, no one knows what is under the villa. Once a group of researchers tried to check it out, but the police prevented them from looking into the basement - officially due to a lack of permits. Perhaps there is absolutely nothing there, as such stories are fond of conjecture and conspiracy theories, or maybe there is some kind of u-bot base there, as some claim? The series Hunting Hitler is worth watching, as one of the episodes addresses this issue. Another interesting production is General Franco.
Today the problem with Winter's villa is that it is in private hands. A guy is stationed here who runs the museum according to his own preferences. This means that he paints the antique walls with oil paint and mixes old relics with new items and originals with gifts from visitors. And so here we have World War II-era instruments next to a television or music cassettes. A fatal mishmash. Without the help of a guide, I found it difficult to indicate whether the decorations or uniforms were original.
Mimo wszystko zdecydowanie warto zapoznać się z historią tego miejsca. To szczególnie ciekawe dla osób zainteresowanych drugą wojną światową.
Nevertheless, it is definitely worth learning about the history of the place. It's especially interesting for those interested in World War II.
Oasis Park Fuerteventura
Na Fuerteventurze znajduje się wielki obszar Oasis Parku. Zwiedzanie i oglądanie pokazów zajmuje dobrych kilka godzin. Można tu podziwiać wiele zwierzaków, a część z nich została uratowana przed śmiercią lub nieodpowiedzialnym zachowaniem właścicieli. Można tu nakarmić żyrafę czy wielbłąda, a także zrobić darmową fotkę z papugą na ramieniu. Odważni mogą nawet pogłaskać olbrzymią anakondę.
There is a large area of Oasis Park in Fuerteventura. It takes quite a few hours to visit and watch the shows. Many animals can be admired here, and some of them have been rescued from death or irresponsible behavior of their owners. Here you can feed a giraffe or camel, and take a free photo with a parrot on your shoulder. The brave can even stroke a giant anaconda.
Wyspa dla każdego / Place for everyone
Fuerteventura to wyspa dla każdego. To idealna propozycja zarówno dla plażowiczów, jak i miłośników zwiedzania. Nie brakuje również miejsc dla surferów. Zdecydowanie mogę polecić wycieczki z polskimi przewodnikami, którzy tu mieszkają i znają wszystkie zakątki. Na pewno tu wrócę, lecz najpierw odwiedzę inną kanaryjską wyspę – Lanzarote.
Fuerteventura is an island for everyone. It's ideal for both beachgoers and sightseeing enthusiasts. There is also no shortage of places for surfers. I can definitely recommend tours with Polish guides who live here and know all the nooks and crannies. I will definitely return here, but first I will visit another Canary island - Lanzarote.
