Legendy Lubelskie : Czarci Sąd.
Jak większość miast z długą i ciekawą historią, Lublin posiada własne legendy. Jedną z najbardziej sławnych lubelskich jest Legenda o wdowie, szlachcicu i czarcim sądzie.
Oto i ona :
Działo się to bardzo dawno temu.
Pewna wdowa wraz z dziećmi, żyła pod Lublinem. Posiadała ona dom, wraz ziemią. Na ziemię tę, miał ochotę bogaty szlachcic. Zaproponował jej odkupienie domu i ziemi, lecz za bardzo niską stawkę. Wdowa odmówiła sprzedaży.
Pewnej nocy obudził ją hałas. Okazało się, że ktoś podpalił jej dom. Zerwawszy się z łóżka chwyciła tylko dzieci i wybiegła na dwór.
Wdowa złożyła skargę do sądu lubelskiego, wskazując że winę za to ponosi ów szlachcic. Jednakże, przekupiony sędzia oddalił sprawę.
Wdowa po raz kolejny wniosła skargę, tym razem do Trybunału . Lecz również tutaj szlachcic przekupił sędziów. Sędziowie owi dodatkowo uznali, że to wszystko wina jest wdowy.
Usłyszawszy wyrok, wdowa rozpłakała się i krzyknęła w stronę sędziów, że gdyby to diabli sądzili, to wydali by sprawiedliwszy wyrok.
W nocy pod Trybunał zajechały karety, a z nich wysiedli panowie diabli. Zasiedli oni w sali sędziowskiej. Wezwali oni i szlachcica i wdowę. Po wysłuchaniu obu stron, sędziowie diabli wydali wyrok : wdowa niewinna, a za wszystko odpowiada szlachcic.
Po podpisaniu wyroku, przewodniczący sądu diabelskiego, na znak swej obecności położył rękę na stole. Okazało się, że wypalił się w drewnie odcisk jego dłoni.
Diabelscy sędziowie po zatwierdzeniu wyroku, opuścili gmach Trybunału.
Nazajutrz wieść o sądzie diabelskim szybko rozniosła się po mieście. Nieuczciwi sędziowie, wchodząc do Trybunału, połamali sobie nogi.
Stół z odciśnięta dłonią czarta, do dziś można oglądać w muzeum na Zamku Lubelskim.
Czy ta legenda jest prawdziwa ? Podobno w każdej z legend kryje się ziarno prawdy.

This happened a long time ago.
A widow and her children lived near Lublin. It had a house, together with land. A rich nobleman wanted this land. He offered her to buy back the house and the land, but at a very low rate. The widow refused to sell.
One night she was woken up by the noise. It turned out that someone set her house on fire. When she got out of bed, she grabbed only the children and ran out to the court.
The widow filed a complaint to the Lublin court, pointing out that the blame for this lies with the nobleman. However, the bribed judge dismissed the case.
The implementation has once again brought an action, this time before the Court. But also here the nobleman bribed the judges. These judges additionally decided that all this was a widow's fault.
Having heard the sentence, the widow cried out and shouted to the judges that if the devils had thought it, they would have issued a fairer sentence.
At night, ambulances arrived at the Court, and devilish men left. They sat in the courtroom. They called both a nobleman and a widow. After hearing both sides, the devil's judges pronounced the sentence: the innocent widow, and the nobleman is responsible for everything.
After the verdict was signed, the chairman of the devil's court put his hand on the table as a sign of his presence. It turned out that his hand imprint burned in the wood.
The devilish judges left the Court's building after the verdict had been approved.
The next day the news about the devil's court spread quickly around the city. Fraudulent judges broke their feet when they entered the Court.
A table with a charter imprinted on it can still be seen in the museum at the Lublin Castle.
Is this legend true? It is said that in each of the legends there is a seed of truth.
