I am currently at Satoshi Roundtable, an event which is quite confidential. I cannot tell you where it takes place, who is participating and what we are talking about. But I think this is an exception I can make: yesterday we had the great honour to have Ron Paul as a guest.
He gave a great speech about his views on monetary policy, and although he is known as a friend of the gold standard, he expressed his endorsement for decentralised digital currencies.
In case you don't know who Ron Paul is: he was a member of the US congress for more than 20 years and a candidate for the US presidency in 1988 (for the Libertarian Party) and in 2008 and 2012 (for the Republicans). Although he probably did not have a chance to win the presidential race, his campaigns made him very popular, especial among young people.
Ron Pauls political views are libertarian. He thinks that government should be strictly limited, its main task is to protect the citizen's liberty. He has popularised the ideas of economists of the Austrian School such as Murray Rothbard and Ludwig von Mises during his political campaigns.
Ron Paul has written several books on Austrian economics and libertarian politics, among them A Foreign Policy of Freedom (2007), The Revolution: A Manifesto (2008), End the Fed (2009) and Liberty Defined (2011).
In foreign policies he is a strict non-interventionist who thinks that the USA should only fight wars to defend its own territory, but not play the world's policeman.

Many activists of the crypto currency movement have been inspired by him. So it was very touching to meet him in person. Thanks, Bruce Fenton, for making this possible!
Dr. Paul is a great man, and the probably the only person I've ever enthusiastically supported for President. I hope to have the honor of meeting him someday.
