I wonder if ....... Queensland voters should be given a timeout?

in #politics9 years ago (edited)

This story is for Australians, and for anyone with a passing interest in Australian politics. My proposition (tongue in cheek) is that the state of Queensland should be boycotted from the next federal election. Why? Well, for those with a memory that extends back to the 1970s, there is a litany of 'odd' politicians that the electors of the Sunshine State (aka Queensland) have brought into power, with federal and state elections.

Whilst I acknowledge that the State's business is their own when it comes to electing politicians for themselves, for the the love of God, why did they inflict the likes of Clive Palmer and Pauline Hanson (twice, yes, twice: once as a member, and now as a Senator) on the rest of us??

Other notables:

  • Joh Bjelke-Petersen, and his wife, Jo (made a great pumpkin scone)

  • Wyatt Roy (the youngest politician elected - just started shaving, and recently spotted in Syria)
  • Russ Hinze (named a dam after him)
  • Campbell  Newman (slightly unbalanced)
  • Bob Katter (love his hat)

  • Glenn Lazarus (brick with eyes)

And don't forget the Kevin 07, the inimitable Kevin Rudd (megalomaniac)

Reckon we should? I mean, really, how bad could it get?

Sort:

Real democracy at work lol its obvious Queenslanders only care about whats in there back yard and not whats good for the nation. Bring on the Republic of Australia i say then lets see how weird things will realy get

Perhaps they should build a wall .... #imagineiftrumpwasaqueenslander
