RE: An open letter to my conservative friends

Because state governments started reacting and ordering social distancing, shelter-in-place, etc. We've been flattening the curve... later than we should have. The federal government mostly just got in the way.

Sort:

Not really true. The federal government couldn’t really stop the states. Also the data from countries that didn’t shelter in place is almost the same as those that didn’t. To boot antibody testing is starting to show the Disease is already here. Also in CA we just had big crowds at the beaches and other protest some events over 2 weeks back and no big spike in cases. Listen if your older or have a pre existing condition maybe stay home be a bit lore careful but the healthy and young need to go back to work. It is doing more harm to them than the sickness can. Be sick for two weeks or losing everting I have? Hmm sickness at my age is like 99.998 I won’t die and 96% I won’t even be in the hospital. But I have to hide in my house? Why? Because some model said 2 million would die. And we are not even close to that.

The Federal Government and most Government is exactly the problem. Whether or not it was a Dem/Repub/Independent/Green in the White House "overseeing 350million people" isn't the point, the point is that it is impossible to correctly do almost anything for one person overseeing that many people.

You could have the best person and smartest person in the world doing the job of being a President, it still isn't feasible to expect one person to correctly make so many decisions.

Most State Governments are too big too and don't make any sense. Once you start having one person in charge of more than a few thousand people it largely stops making any sense. Power/greed/corruption takes over.

All political parties in the USA are corporations. They are literally classified as corporations. We vote for figure heads of a corporation to oversee is and run us like a corporation. They also in turn take bribes from other corporations to write laws that favor them.

It is mafia style illegitimate the whole way up and down.

@truthforce writing on this shared account.

That's where proper institutions and planning come into play. Yes, one human Great Leader doesn't scale. However, an institution that plans ahead and inter-disciplinary teams and honest planning for the situations within its purview, and then activate them when needed, that can scale.

That's exactly what Trump dismantled, in the form of the pandemic preparedness office. There are lots of non-political agencies that do their job and do it well because they're run by experts in the field rather than political appointees. Or, rather, that was the case until Trump decided to politicize them, too.

Good government is hard to scale, but it can be done. Abusive government can exist at any size.

(The absence of government lasts for about 15 minutes until hierarchies start to form on their own and some gang leader starts playing king of the hill.)

Government largely isn't preventative they are reactionary in most things. Humans are the same way.

Everything is politicized because it is about power. Those who want to wield power over others are controllers.

I am not interested in the garbage governments that Democracy produces. Democrazy is 51 wolves and 49 sheep voting on what is for dinner. We are all slaves to the state and are born into it, literally nothing about any governments of the world is voluntary. Every law we have on the books is backed by threat of putting someone in a rape cage AKA prison(which doesn't rehabilitate anyone to put them through trauma) or backed by the point of a gun because "I said so".

Trump should dismantle everything he can, he should sign an executive order today and permanently eliminate Presidential elections, ban them from ever happening again, and resign as President. Everyone in the FBI/CIA and all these psycho control groups should be immediately fired as they are all unelected. If they are so important they can be elected and held to account.
