The Assange story is an example of how the world really operates behind the illusion of democracy and law. It's simply power and those who yield it. Assange sacrificed his life to expose war crimes and indiscriminate murder of civilians and should always be looked at as a hero to humanity.
If there is any justice in the world Assange would go free and the liars, war criminals and mass murderers like some of our current and former leaders would be rotting in prison.
