RE: Seeking Knowledge And The Ability To Understand And Benefit From It... "What Happens When..." (Part 3)

in #politics8 years ago

@doc.hodes I would tend to agree with you regarding most of your assertions, accept:

...playing into the divisive liberal vs. conservative dichotomy

... There is a false equivalency in saying the actions of Donald Trump are the same as any other president - they most certainly are not. What we see today is completely unique in every respect, and the case could be made that his actions are no less destructive than your two examples. I do recognize my own bias when it relates to the actions of all politicians - and even with that recognition I will still choose to point out things as I see them...

When you say:

until now and since Ronald Regan I haven't wasted one minute of my time on any election, campaign or administration.

... I assume that means you are now engaging in the conversation, and for that I am grateful. If more educated Americans had spoken up over the last 80 years rather than "not wasting one minute of their time", we might not be in the mess we are in... But maybe not - I guess we'll never know because so many of the "intelligentsia" chose to do exactly what you did...

Good to have you back - better late than never right... I look forward to hearing more from you... :)

Sort:

Are you a US Citizen or an American?

@doc.hodes - I'm not sure what direction you want to go with that particular question, but it's an easy one (for me at least). I consider myself to be a citizen of the world who just happens to have been born in The United States (of America)... Anyone born from Newfoundland to the southernmost tip of Chile is also an American, and contrary to the ignorant beliefs of our "dear leader", so are Puerto Rican's, Guaman's, and Virgin Islander's. Maybe it's my own naivete, but I choose to believe most are overwhelmingly proud and consider themselves fortunate regardless of what the orange clown in the white house does or says.
Unfortunately its my observation that many "North American's" - specifically those from the US, have forgotten that fact and their limited worldview tends to consider themselves to be the only "true Americans"... Fortunately I'm not one of them...

First let me say that I really appreciate the dialog. I have been really disappointed with steemit so far because I was hoping to find more people like yourself that can actually think but there are not many.

"Nice post, can you upvote me" just doesn't impress me.

The question was meant to see if you knew there is a difference.

If you register to vote then you are a US Citizen and under contract with the corporate state.

The reason I do not participate in the illusion of democracy is just that. It is an illusion because there is no real government.

The United States of America (note the proper case spelling) no longer exists. It was replaced in 1871 by THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA (note the all capital letters) which is a corporation. EVERY "president" since has been appointed by committee and every "president" since George Washington has been a direct descendant of European royalty with the possible exception of Donald Trump. I don't know nor do I care if he is because I do not think it will matter much longer.

Politics, racism, sexism, patriotism and religion are nothing more than distractions meant to keep people divided so that will not see what is really going on.

I identify myself only as human.

You and I likely have many different opinions about the state of affairs in the US, but as far as this interaction is concerned, there is very little that separates us... I'm glad to have met you, and I hope you will check back in now and then for a chat... Steem on brother... MDG... :)
