Enjoyed the post. Where the internet made this possible, blockchain makes it realistic. I just today put out a post that concludes that the only way for blockchain to make a difference, a true difference, in how the world works is to use it to form a political party. The end result being a government that doesn't rely on representatives at all. This is, in my view, the only positive way forward for humanity. Would love to hear your thoughts on that.

I'm a novice when it comes to understanding the technical aspects of blockchain technology. I've tried reading some white papers and a lot of it goes over my head. However, from the ways I have seen it applied already, I think there is POWERFUL potential for blockchain's use in politics.
Imagine a Steemit/DTube-esque moderated political forum where people could livestream their political ideas and have people react to them in real time. Popular vote would have meaning again and payouts toward specific campaigns could be tracked on-site, right under the name of the campaign.
There would be plenty of minor bugs to work out over time but one major problem comes in the form of which people have sway over which nation's political forum? We could require people to sign in but as I'm sure most people using Steemit already know, IP addresses can easily be masked or rerouted to a different country.
One way around this would be to establish a global political party for a global government. My question then becomes, is it possible that we reach that level of clarity before self-destructing?
