3rd Party Missing in MI, no one primarying Stabenow???

in #politics6 years ago

Disappointed at uproar from voters with no follow through.

Society has the ability to get out and protest but not make it to voting centers or contribute to a campaign against these swamp monsters, a term I knew was only being used by a certain politician for rallies, but I do want to bring it into real life. Congress has some of the lowest ratings ever, and here we go again, 2018, bringing in the same ol's with no opposition. No primaries for the worst of the swamp, while our only options are just waiting to turn tides red and blue. It's old and boring. It is not constructive. So let's uproot the two parties with outsiders(non Pac $) and third parties.

Home State MICHIGAN WTF

So to start, Michigan does have a lot of progressive candidates running for office, more than any of the first dozen states I've looked at. But progressives are not running primaries against some very deeply corrupt figures. Thankfully, the governor who devastated so many people's lives with poisoned water can not run again. So here is one problematic incumbent that is running and some non-sold out politicians that need support.

Debbie Stabenow

This is a Democrat who voted to give Trump more power in starting war and gave the military 80 billion more on an already bloated budget. She is a true corporate Democrat, or NeoLiberal if you like. She has no primary to worry about. She currently has four Republican opponents, with two pushing for enough money to make a run against the corporate Demoncrat. There was a green party and libertarian candidate, neither raising any funds, that have dropped out before the April 24th deadline . Though she has a huge asset of campaign finances from some very corporate donors, her net worth has gone down from 261 grand to only 32 grand....whilst making 174 grand a year. If it looks like shit and smells like shit ... Seeing as her biggest donors are DuPont and Blue Cross/Shield, as well as Pac's from all over the country and Israel, I don't see her paying out of pocket for many lunches.

Governor race

Abdul El Sayed

Sayed is a real non Pac money progressive who is getting burned in polls by an ex-Republican, newly claimed Berniecrat. Completely flipping your political identity for an election is the lowest form of politician. This seat has been in Republican hands too long and has cost Flint lives and now millions of gallons of Michigan citizen's water to a corporation. This is a key primary race, a must win against corporate corruption.

Key Races in House

A quick overview of races in key areas.

MI 1st District

Matt Morgan vs Jack Bergman

I know my birth area, and still kind of home, always votes red for some reason. 20 years ago it ran blue and my family had the annual pig roast for the Democrats at our property. Now this year's candidates feature a DeVos funded Republican (Jack Bergman) versus a non Pac money Democrat (Matt Morgan). Morgan is currently being backed by Justice Democrats, whose only core position is no corporate donors or Pac money.

In the 6th District

You have seven current Democrats running in this primary. Only one is non Pac money verified, that being David Benac who is endorsed by almost every splinter of the progressive tree. The winner will be running against one of the biggest energy funded candidates in the area, Fred Upton. So, a very important race.

The 2nd, 11th and 13th districts

There are also non Pac money Democrats running primaries in these, some whom could remain unopposed up to the April 24th deadline. Biggest evaluation I have for the state: where it may look like a move in the right direction for a lot of non corporate candidates, I see little divergence from the usual two party politics. I do hope this primary season can be a step in right direction, that 2018 can move us from the same bipartisan setup.

Drunken Progressives Video Try #1

On a lighter note, a while back I came up with the idea to have a less serious talk about politics. It was never meant to be just me, but as a fun way for all political minded folk to rant, debate and be able to talk politics. After this test run I see it could maybe be a fun tag on steemit or twitter, but I'm very open to suggestions. Definite F bombs early, so listener beware ;)

I have my obvious leanings, but I can not vote in this state, or 48 others. So please share, remind friends and family, and get out and vote in your primaries. One can not complain about your surroundings if you do not participate in there creation.
