There was one really important claim in the controversial Nunes memo that stood out like a sore thumb. Democrats swore up and down it wasn't true. One of them even said their rebuttal would address it.
Alas, it does not.
The Democratic memo does nothing to address the Nunes memo's claim that then-FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe had said the Steele dossier was vital to the application to monitor former Trump campaign adviser Carter Page. The Nunes memo relied upon McCabe's alleged comments to determine that the dossier “formed an essential part of the Carter Page FISA application.” And that claim formed the basis for arguing that the FISA process was politically tainted (given that Democrats paid for the dossier).
