Beto O'Rourke announced his presidency today and dropped his campaign video. What I've seen out of this campaign ad was Beto trying to be Barrack Obama 2.0. His ad was mostly chock-full of empty platitudes and clichés. The main issues he mentioned were healthcare, war, and climate change.

When politicians talk about healthcare, watch for the weasel words. They never say "Medicare for all". They usually talk about "access to affordable healthcare" or "the ability to see a doctor". The problem is that medical expenses are the number 1 cause of bankruptcy in America. The solution to that would be Medicare for all. Every other developed country on the planet has a system like that, and it ranks better than ours. It should be worth noting that Beto didn't sign on to H.R. 676.

I agree with the idea of ending these decades-long wars, but here's where Beto is a smooth-talker: he voted to increase Trump's military budget, which funds these wars. Sounds pretty disingenuous if you ask me.

As for the issue of climate change, it's worth noting Beto is the 2nd top recipient of fossil fuel money, the first being Ted Cruz. He broke his pledge to not take large donations from fossil fuel corporations, some of which were executives. That's different than taking small dollar donations from a janitor that works at Exxon Mobil.

Also, go to his campaign site and tell me where his policy issues are, because I didn't find any. The last time we had a Republican Lite candidate, who offered nothing but empty platitudes, we ended up with a game show host as president.

To summarize, Bet on my Stork looks like another Barrack Obama, and even his own party has moved past that. We're in a populist era now. I'm glad he's running because we need more establishment candidates running to split the establishment vote and provide the path for either Bernie or Tulsi to win the nomination.
