Bitcoin mainstream adoption via the Porn Industry?

There are many new use cases on Bitcoin adoption over the last few years, but they have all been relatively small and niche (apart from the retailers large scale adoption in Japan).

For Bitcoin to hit the mainstream, it needs a large catalyst to make that happen and one area which seems a perfect match, is part of the leisure sector. As we spend more time and money on leisure activities (both online and offline) the need for a universal payment is even more important.

Within the leisure sector, the porn industry was historically the most used part of the internet and has only recently been overtaken by social media access. This means there is a vast network of potential for bitcoins and cryptocurrencies

A recent article by Bitcoin.com discusses the potential large scale adoption of bitcoin for a few reasons:

  1. The payment is anonymous - there are no strange transactions on your credit card or bank statement
  2. The business will received complete payment and no charge-backs (fraudulent payments) this saves them time, money and hassle
  3. Traditional banks often cancel or decline payments from this part of the leisure sector

Bitcoin profit is not as big compared to traditional billing methods yet, but it’s growing. And what’s very important for our members, it’s anonymous (actually pseudonymous). Bitcoin helps to avoid those awkward moments for guys when the credit card statement arrives and the wife starts asking questions. Why do we as the recipient love Bitcoin? There are no chargebacks.

Should the second biggest part of the internet take payments in cryptocurrency across the sector, this would mean millions of $ worth of bitcoin flowing around the system.

The adoption of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies is happening fast, and I do believe the leisure sector will benefit from this adoption and help grow the bitcoin and crypto world.
