First of all - any time you let your kid rock hair like this you are winning - if you can convince your kid its awesome...they will rock it with confidence and create more awesomeness around them - its not what you wear its how you wear it!

If you are new to this blog welcome - I've been writing on what it means to build powerful kids. Our children for the most part are currently getting castrated slowly by cultural averageness, educational indoctrination, and "smart" devices. My desire with these posts is to help parents find some basic tools to help draw out the awesomeness within their children. Would love to invite you to use the tag powerfulkids if you have some tools to help fellow parents.

Today I want to talk about going out of your way to celebrate their wins.

In most normal schools/social groups you will find several authority figures or adults that are generally stressed out and doing everything they can to get kids to do "the right thing". Like stand in a line, or sit quietly and listen. It sounds like a general sense of badgering from adults - very few of who actually see the children enough to call out the actual life and purpose in each kid.

The result is either a completely defeated kid that will bury them self in fake games, or a rebellious kid that is looking for acceptance but is expecting rejection.

As parents its our job to teach and train up our kids in their unique self. Its not to make them obey some manmade rules, rather teach them how to actually value people, and exist respectfully within society. You see a powerful kid has a brain and a choice and the ability to use that choice at any given moment. When a kid utilizes their choice in a respectful manner, that serves others it needs to be noted and celebrated.

My challenge for you today is don't manage their behavior but celebrate their choices! Our children want to be apart of the whole. They want to feel loved and have an impact on whatever they are doing. We can help them by celebrating them making a choice, and helping them see the consequences. Good and Bad! Most adults celebrate children when their behavior is confirmed to some ridiculous standard. Its like teaching them to be clones.

Some of my wife and I's most powerful moments with our kids is when they are able to see their choices hurt someone...esepcially Mom! Their attitudes can wear us down as parents, where we feel disrespected or sad. Now, we dont manipulate our kids, but when they have a moment of awareness that they are causing pain, they snap out of their bad attitudes quite quickly. They want to be a contributing member of our family! Can we as parents celebrate our kids when they make choices. Help them see how their choices impact people but celebrate the power they have in making a choice.

And let them choose a mullet...I did

A great post! :)
I totally agree that society is trying to raise 'robots' not souls!
Freedom, guidance and morals are more important than useless facts. Raising children to question everything, think for themselves and take responsibility are really important qualities.
I love you idea of a blog on this subject, keep blogging! :)

Thanks! love building some worldchangers
