This will be the third season to use the video assistant referee (VAR) review system. It will be the second season to have a February winter break. The start and end dates for the season were released on 25 March 2021, and the fixtures were released on 16 June 2021.
Friday 13th of August will hold the opening game of the Premier League this season between Arsenal and Brentford.
Manchester City are the defending champions, having won their fifth Premier League title during the previous season.
