00:00
good afternoon everybody all right so
00:04
windy windy windy day here North I don't
00:07
know got a storm front moving in over
00:08
the next three days so we've got all
00:11
kinds of stuff rolling around
00:13
but not to bad weather Sun was shining
00:16
most the day and fall some fall colors
00:20
we don't have very good fall colors here
00:22
but not like they do in the Midwest the
00:25
East Coast that's for sure
00:27
so today I just wanted to talk about
00:30
let's see I had on my mind
00:34
feasibility of living in smaller
00:37
communities I think in today's day and
00:42
age there was wind oh there we go
00:48
in today's day and age there's so many
00:51
towns you know between the 30 to 75
00:55
thousand population that are really
01:00
economically viable to relocate to if
01:03
you're currently living in a large
01:06
metropolitan area and you know you're
01:08
just sick of it you know most people not
01:10
most about a good good amount of people
01:13
stay in those areas because you know
01:17
their career whatever it is that they
01:19
decide to do they're worried about being
01:21
able to find a job that you know offers
01:25
even 8090 percent of what they currently
01:28
make even though their cost will
01:30
probably go down in the smaller
01:31
community as someone who coming from my
01:35
perspective you know the less people the
01:38
better to a point you certainly don't
01:40
want to be
01:42
at least me personally I don't want to
01:44
be somewhere where you know the town's
01:46
got 500 people and you know you're three
01:50
hours away from a town that's even got
01:52
20 or 30 thousand people right it's just
01:54
it that makes everyday living pretty
01:57
difficult even though obviously there's
01:59
a lot of benefits but I mean you're
02:01
talking serious serious economic
02:05
hardships with that so unless you're you
02:09
know if you're retired or you know have
02:10
a monthly income from that or you know
02:16
even trying to do business any kind of
02:21
business over the Internet generally you
02:23
get too far out in the boonies and it's
02:24
really hard to get decent connection
02:27
another satellite internet out there but
02:28
with today's HD videos and pictures and
02:32
web streaming and all that I mean you
02:34
use your data pretty damn quick on a
02:36
satellite internet feed so I mean not
02:38
saying it can't be done in certain
02:40
satellite service providers are better
02:42
than others but it does make it
02:44
difficult so we're gonna address is you
02:48
know how you make that move from that
02:50
super urban or suburban you know even if
02:55
you're sitting on like the outskirts of
02:56
Atlanta or Houston or something and you
02:58
want to get you know you want to get
03:00
within three or four hours outside of
03:02
any of those big metropolitan areas but
03:04
you still want to be economically viable
03:05
I am starting to look around quite a bit
03:09
online for different ways to make a
03:13
second income even if it's just mainly
03:17
for educational purposes and someone
03:20
like me who doesn't like to you know
03:22
this is kind of a challenge to myself to
03:23
put myself out there a little bit but I
03:25
don't naturally do that I don't even
03:26
have
03:27
book bitch don't have a Twitter account
03:29
anymore man I guess I do it's just and I
03:31
never use it and certainly I don't do
03:34
snapchat or Instagram crap but you know
03:38
I probably should if I'm going to do
03:40
something online right any kind of
03:42
business online and so you know today's
03:45
video is going to be about being able to
03:48
run a business online or take your
03:52
certain skills that you have and
03:53
applying them in some fashion to being
03:56
able to have you
03:59
mostly at home
04:01
or full-time job working from you knows
04:05
you might still need to you know to
04:07
commute into work twice a week you know
04:09
if your boss makes you but you know this
04:11
day and age if you're in any kind of
04:13
pusher paper-pushing industry for the
04:17
most part as long as you've got sound
04:19
internet connection at your house why do
04:23
they need you there you know I know
04:25
there's meetings and there's stuff like
04:26
that and you want to be a part of that
04:28
so but you know let's say you're
04:29
currently working at an accounting
04:33
office or even a you know an
04:36
architectural drafting for something
04:38
like that you know for the most part if
04:43
you're in if you're in one of those
04:44
those kinds of fields you can move an
04:49
hour further outside of town to kind of
04:54
you know keep yourself from dealing with
04:56
just the constant I just gonna call it
04:59
noise over all right the you know the
05:01
constant traffic the constant EMF
05:05
disturbances the stress of dealing with
05:07
all of what comes with being jammed into
05:10
a rule and that rule at urban setting
05:13
and you want to get back to having a
05:16
little more property you want to be able
05:17
to maybe raise some chickens have a
05:18
garden have a little buffer between you
05:21
and the masses you know I would just go
05:25
right out and ask you know your employer
05:29
hey you know I really love working here
05:32
I love working for you guys however you
05:35
know my family and their quality of life
05:38
is more important we're gonna sell our
05:40
townhome in the middle of you know
05:43
bonanzaville and we want to you know go
05:45
get this little five acre hobby farm but
05:49
it's you know it's an hour out of town
05:50
is there any way we can work something
05:51
out where I come in once or twice a week
05:53
commute in I'd handle all the hardcopy
05:56
stuff that's necessary and then download
05:59
all the essential software onto the
06:02
personal computer which you probably
06:03
have already done if your company allows
06:05
that and just satellite from from home
06:08
if you're a good employee
06:12
and you show that your move is not
06:15
because of them that you really love the
06:18
firm and you want to wear in the front I
06:20
use the word firmer I should just say
06:21
company right
06:24
and that you enjoy working form and all
06:26
that stuff you know play a little
06:27
kiss-ass even if it is the truth
06:30
and I think you'd be surprised at how
06:33
many people would say yes I really I
06:39
really think you might be surprised
06:40
because you know this but like I said
06:43
with this day and age it's becoming
06:46
almost more about they're doing you know
06:49
their studies study this productivity of
06:52
work of workers and that people can be
06:55
more productive in because they're not
06:57
dealing with all the nonsense of
07:02
you know commuting into work everyday
07:04
having to figure out what they're gonna
07:06
do for lunch dealing with any kind of
07:09
drama that might be happening around the
07:12
workplace you know a lot of people are
07:16
inherently opposed to having someone
07:19
tell them exactly when they could have
07:23
to be somewhere and when they have to
07:24
leave a lot of people aren't huge fans
07:28
of having that obligation to that
07:30
structure you know when it's not by
07:32
their own choice myself being one
07:36
and you know you could see morale and
07:38
productivity go up significantly I mean
07:41
here at home as long as you're set up at
07:43
all you've got everything you need to do
07:44
to perform your your tasks that you need
07:47
to for work you can certainly find that
07:49
the
07:51
and so it certainly first and foremost
07:54
go ahead and find out from your employer
07:57
obviously it's only applies to certain
08:00
careers as I touched on but find out if
08:02
you could be a satellite employee
08:06
you know just see how it goes if they
08:08
say no that doesn't work out you know if
08:10
you're approached it in a
08:12
in a very cordial and correct manner
08:16
use your words appropriately and like I
08:19
said kiss but a little bit you're gonna
08:22
find you're gonna find that even if they
08:24
say no it's not going to be like
08:28
really negative note might just be
08:30
listen you know we need you here for
08:32
this this and this and this
08:34
I'm sorry maybe a little reference you
08:36
to somebody in the area that you're
08:39
moving to would like to move to so no as
08:42
long as you keep it professional and
08:45
polite I don't think even a rejection
08:48
would be negative representation of
08:51
yourself so give that a try first
08:55
secondly you know if you just want to
08:57
leave the company r with and your skill
08:59
set is he is one of those in which can
09:02
be used in a satellite manner meaning
09:05
from home not having to go to the office
09:07
then start marketing
09:12
business that you want to run now Wow
09:14
you still have your other job so you can
09:16
land some clients whether it's like tack
09:18
services you know keeping those are big
09:20
ones medical billing it might be a
09:24
little a little different than what
09:26
you're doing but you know you get web
09:30
design a lot of IT stuff can be done
09:33
remotely you don't have to be there with
09:37
all the technology today you can log
09:38
into anybody's computer with certain
09:40
programs right so certainly IT you could
09:43
teach
09:45
college courses you know be a Skype for
09:49
all those internet students out there
09:51
there's a lot of crap you can do you can
09:53
you know start your own online retail
09:55
business there's various different ways
09:58
to do that and promote it you can be a
10:00
wholesale buyer and seller on Amazon
10:05
there's there's a lot of ways you could
10:07
do this so educate while you still have
10:11
your current job and you know plan for
10:13
the move
10:14
I think anybody who currently has a job
10:18
that would allow them to do that
10:21
to do a lot mostly computer work
10:25
we'll find it you know really beneficial
10:26
they just start that little process at
10:29
learning more about how they can make it
10:31
happen you know after two or three
10:32
months you might start feeling pretty
10:33
confident that hey you know what I think
10:36
I'll be able to put in my 3/4 we've
10:39
noticed that my company
10:41
we'll be able to survive
10:43
I think I can pull off
10:45
at home business and you know it's just
10:48
a matter of knowledge I gain the
10:50
knowledge that
10:53
now for those of us out there who don't
11:00
currently you'll see what kind of jobs
11:01
you might have to be hungry
11:05
obviously if you're any kind of
11:08
manufacturing you know doesn't get more
11:12
much more hands-on or in-house or you
11:15
know
11:15
in the workplace that manufacturing does
11:17
so there that can be a tough one but if
11:19
you know how to do the C&C; stuff
11:23
you know I drew CAD
11:26
I mean you can generally speaking and
11:28
find employment or if you have a
11:31
property that has a shop on it you know
11:33
you could start your own
11:36
we start your own small business from
11:39
your property once you once you made
11:41
that move out of the city and you know
11:45
there's a million different examples I
11:46
really I really think the Internet and
11:49
the broad spectrum use of the Internet
11:52
by basically everybody now right yeah
11:56
everything we do is on the Internet
11:57
there's so many even if it takes career
12:00
change and you might need to take like
12:02
you know a speed course online you know
12:03
like a six five six seven month
12:07
certification thing just to learn all
12:10
the ins and outs of whatever it is you
12:12
want to go into you know you can learn
12:14
that all online while you prepare to
12:17
make that move and then land you know a
12:20
job that you can do remotely computer
12:24
programmers like I mean Jesus I mean
12:27
Peter programmers aren't going anywhere
12:29
and there's not enough of them now and
12:31
if you really put in the time and effort
12:34
you can make really good money being you
12:39
know contract for hire you know you can
12:41
be a consultant or contractor in the IT
12:44
field doing different kinds of
12:46
programming there's like I mean I don't
12:48
know how many there's at least a dozen
12:49
different different programming
12:51
categories
12:54
people are in so there's a lot of stuff
12:58
out there and it's not always
12:59
comfortable making a jump unless you're
13:03
me the only thing that holds me down is
13:05
I not hold me down that's the wrong way
13:07
to say another thing that keeps me
13:08
anchored it's probably the best way to
13:10
say it is you know having a wife and
13:12
kids because I'm a frickin I'm a gypsy I
13:15
go all over the place all the time and
13:17
randomly try new stuff on a whim which
13:21
is an okay quality to have at times and
13:23
other times and get you in trouble so
13:24
you know well yin and yang thing wife
13:27
tries to balance that out a little bit
13:28
when she does but yeah it can be a
13:32
little bit scary but don't try to do it
13:35
all at once you know learn the education
13:37
process and if you if what you really
13:39
want to do is have a more relaxed
13:41
lifestyle get out of the city doesn't
13:45
mean you have to live in the boonies
13:46
like I said I mean I have 10 acres but
13:49
you know I
13:51
a mile and a half down the street from a
13:53
really reputable elementary school you
13:57
know it's got about three or four
13:58
hundred kids and you know I've got you
14:02
know the street I'm on right now is only
14:04
about two miles down the road for me and
14:06
you know every 500 feet is a house so
14:09
you know I can go to the gas station in
14:12
five minutes doing a Costco and whatever
14:17
2025 minutes so you know everything's
14:20
relatively closed and there's no reason
14:24
that you can't have at least you know
14:28
you don't have to go from one extreme to
14:29
the other but you know there is middle
14:31
ground there and depending on where you
14:33
where you live currently and we're
14:34
looking at relocating you can get away
14:36
with doing a lot as long as you don't
14:38
have you know CCR's and all these
14:41
restrictive things like you know HOAs
14:45
and I just can't stand it you know
14:46
people telling you you can't have
14:48
chickens or you can't have a garden that
14:49
kind of crap I believe if you're moving
14:52
out of the city to kind of get out of
14:54
that rat race that should be on your
14:57
mind you should not want to allow
15:00
somebody else to continue to tell you
15:03
how you can
15:05
you know use your property and also you
15:10
want to try to get benefit of getting
15:12
out of the public water system basically
15:17
all public works you know get off the
15:19
sewer and get off the get off the
15:21
municipal water supplies because they're
15:23
just terrible I mean they're absolutely
15:25
terrible I mean you can spend money and
15:27
get a whole house filtration or get a
15:29
Berkey for your drinking water and stuff
15:31
like that but better off just to get
15:34
some Oh water and you know I still
15:37
filter my well water but Berkey because
15:38
it's a big aquifer and I don't know you
15:40
know what some company ten miles away
15:42
it's doing and what they're dumping in
15:44
there but all in all I mean you can make
15:48
it happen I encourage everyone to try
15:50
and make it happen certainly think
15:52
there's a pretty substantial movement
15:56
for this you know in percentage-wise is
15:58
definitely up on how many people just
16:01
kind of want to know
16:02
have to deal with smog in the
16:06
electromagnetic fields constant stress
16:10
of the hustle hustle hustle hustle
16:12
hustle which I'm doing right now anyway
16:14
even though I don't
16:15
I live in the big city so you know
16:18
that's another thing just because you
16:20
move out of the big city you got to
16:22
change your lifestyle as well and my
16:24
wife and I are working on that because
16:26
it's you know it's not good for the kids
16:27
you don't spend enough time doing stuff
16:29
with them at some point we want to be
16:31
able to homeschool our kids at least for
16:33
like the core education we you know my
16:37
send a half days or something like that
16:39
get into program so they do social
16:42
things and sports and whatnot but you
16:45
know we definitely want to step up our
16:47
game when it comes to parenting and so
16:49
we are kind of starting that longer-term
16:52
vision and process of simplifying our
16:56
life in finding ways to make money from
16:58
home and this is a big learning curve
17:02
for me because when I got married I was
17:05
pretty young and I was just kind of
17:07
getting out on my own so you know as a
17:09
guy it takes a while for us to grow up
17:11
and to realize things about ourselves
17:13
and and it's it's you know now I'm
17:17
starting to feel pretty comfortable and
17:19
more confident that I could pull
17:22
something off you know working more at
17:24
home than have to drive around and you
17:29
know in if he or somebody who wants to
17:31
home-school I mean that's even that's
17:32
another huge thing I know a lot of
17:37
people sacrifice who want that kind of
17:39
lifestyle but the guy or
17:42
whoever isn't as good domestically is
17:46
you know still driving doing a long
17:49
commute working so that the other spouse
17:52
can homeschool the kids and take care of
17:55
the property a little bit but until both
17:58
parents are able to spend most their
18:00
time on the property you know I think
18:04
that's when the quality of life starts
18:05
to really show up you know you're on
18:07
your own schedules you're yeah you're
18:09
you you're responsible for the risk that
18:11
you take but at the same time you know I
18:13
think that's that's part of living is
18:15
being accountable and having that
18:19
knowledge that you know it's up to you
18:22
you succeed it's on your shoulders if
18:24
you if you don't that's also on your
18:26
shoulders and you know that if you fail
18:27
that creates growth I've had some
18:29
failures that's for sure and you just
18:31
got to learn from them and plow on but I
18:33
definitely encourage anybody who just
18:36
wants to change a lifestyle and just
18:38
slow it down a little bit get more back
18:40
get back to to nature basically touching
18:45
feeling seeing their food spending more
18:47
time with their family to just get
18:50
online and and start trying to figure
18:52
out ways that fit your skill set to make
18:55
a living for a moment all right that's
18:56
it for now guys thank you
