I apologize for taking so long to continue on this amazing topic of “Bible Prophecy and why it Matters!”...I will keep my posts shorter and more frequent going forward. Approximately 30% of the Bible is make up of Bible Prophecy, so God felt it was Very Important to Communicate with His people future events. It is NOT intended to create FEAR, but to INFORM and PREPARE God's people for what is coming in the near or distant future.
A significant number of Bible prophecies have come to pass with 100% accurately as the prophets recorded what the Holy Spirit instructed them to write...we will look at many of these is the days to come Lord willing. Bible Prophecy was NEVER man's own opinion or insight and nor are we to try to interpreter it with our own imaginations, wisdom or spin! This methodology has been the main reason for False Cults through the centuries and misleading people into deception...after all Satan is the Father of all Lies and Deception (Gen. 3:13; John 8:44; 2 Tim. 3:13; Rev. 12:9)!
It is my Strong Conviction after following Jesus for nearly 40 years regarding interpreting the Bible in general and Prophecy specifically to allow the Bible to interpret the Bible...take it literally and in most cases God provides the interpretation for us (unless He chooses to conceal it for a latter time as He says in Daniel 12:9.
Even when symbolism is used in Prophecy, allow the Bible to clarify and interpret the symbols God chooses to use from other passages or direct interpretation from God. As in Revelations 1:12 the Apostle John see’s seven golden lamp stands and in verse 16 Jesus holding seven stars in His right hand…then the angel explains what they mean in verse 20... the 7 lamp stands = 7 churches and the 7 stars = 7 angels of the 7 churches. When we read the Bible and Prophecy we are to be remain humble and open to the Holy Spirit to guide us…not leaning on our own human understanding! These principles are Absolutely Critical to understanding Bible Prophecy and to prevent us from going down a deceptive paths with false interpretations!
Even Daniel as a true Prophet of God as an example did not try to figure out his visions, dreams or angels messages...he waited for God to explain what he was told or show. Daniel 1:17; 2:19-23, 27-30, 45, 47; Daniel 7:1-14, 15-16. An Angel of God provides the accurate interpretation of Daniels visions and dreams. This pattern continues throughout Daniels life as a Prophet...God provides the understanding and interpretation...Daniel 8:1-14 vision...Gabriel an Archangel gives Daniel the interpretation in verses 15-27. Even after being given the understanding Daniel was appalled and sickened for days and struggled to accept the angel’s clarification. Daniel 9:20-23, Gabriel again appears to Daniel to give insight and understanding to the mysteries of God also called Prophecy! Daniel 10: 1-9 (the vision), and the interpretation from God's messenger (Angel) vs. 10-14. This pattern is found throughout the prophetic passages of Scripture!
Next I will cover, "The Bible clearly tells us “How Bible Prophecy Occurs” and what is its “Main Purpose”.
From a friend Bill W...till next time...Why Bible Prophecy Matters!
