Introducing Ultimaker Cura 3.3 | Beta

After another period of continuous research and development, we're proud to share the latest Ultimaker Cura Beta with you.

Cura developers have been on a roll, turning out version after version - kind of puts the competition on the back foot a bit, especially as Cura is free to download and use ...

New features in 3.3:

  • A circular prime tower, for more reliable dual extrusion prints

  • Bridging , a new experimental feature detects bridges, adjusting print speed and fan speed.

  • Configuration/sync , when you use Cura Connect you can sync Cura to show which Ultimaker 3D printers are available with their configuration and you can slice accordingly. Should save us at least a few walks :)

  • A support blocker, allowing you to select areas where you don't want support to be generated

Nice! I still need to learn S3D once I have a working printer.

S3D is getting left behind. It is a shame really. I still use it because of all the nice community profiles out there mainly.

Shame, I just bought S3D (regretted it immediately too). I told you I don't want to support a company who doesn't update their software.

They do, just on a really slow cycle compared to Prusa and Ultimaker :/

slow is a word.

Well done ... did we drift into Sesame Street?

11 is a number!

:D

No need to regret I think it is still better in most cases. Just when it comes to multiextrusion it can’t support the latest stuff from Prusa and Ultimaker.

I was planning on trying it for the 14 day period they give you to refund it and never got around to giving it enough time and when I did it was too late for a refund. Seeing it is the only real paid slicer it is not very impressive. Cura despite its issues is still better in almost every way and progressing much faster.

Fantastic. Perfect application for design. Thank you for sharing @makerhacks

Thanks for spreading 3D printing knowledge! I am actually planning to start a 3D printing 101 series, so more and more people can proit from this technology

That would be good for the https://www.steemmakers.com/ community :)
