UK Gov To Cripple Encryption/Force Backdoor Installs By Telcos, Google And Social media Dicks

in #privacy7 years ago

The UK Gov has decided to ruin its own economy by forcing telcos, google and social media dicks to install backdoors and cripple its encryption. All as some sort of "it's for your own good" head-up-the arse logic. What start-up is going to settle in a country that has blown a hole in its comms infrastructure encryption? How long do we wait before some jerk off gov ass-candle loses the decryption data usb at some bar?

And a Tl;Dr:

'The UK government will push through orders next month to force all communications companies including Google and Facebook to break data encryption. '

'In March, the European Commission insisted it had been misunderstood when it said it would pass new laws to access data stored in the cloud. ', "As such, it's not clear whether the rules breaking encryption will get past the comms companies and then past Parliament."

'That draft includes the anti-encryption wording as well as the insistence that communications companies in the UK provide real-time access to the full content of any named individuals. '

'It was suspected that the government intended to rush the paper past Parliament in order to get it enacted, but widespread public debate over the matter made that approach increasing untenable. '

Sort:

These people are either complete idiots with a total misunderstanding of how the internet works or they think the public are complete idiots.

New flash: there will always be a way of encrypting your comms. You cannot control a global phenomenon from a single country. Get over it.
