I was looking for examples of why privacy is important and why it should be taken seriously. I highly recommend watching the Youtube video below. personally I do not know who this youtuber is. He appears to legitimately run a diesel truck channel. Apparently he had ordered a bunch of filters from all around for a youtube comparison. He is also retired military, so during the same time period he also ordered some firearm parts.
Long story short, it appears that it was enough to trigger the feds to come to investigate him. They showed up with lists of all his recent filter orders as they could've been used as illegal suppressors. He did not commit any crimes. They are monitoring and have clear access to his online shopping history. I don't think I need to explain here just how disturbing this is
If you think they are not watching every single thing you do online, you are living under a rock. If you think it does not matter because you are doing nothing wrong, just consider that his particular shopping habits caused cautious and concerned armed law enforcement agents to appear on his property where any number of misunderstandings could have occurred. The book is now open on him. They will likely be paying extra close attention to "catch" him doing what they missed the first time to "prevent" any crimes before they occur.
Losing our privacy leads to our liberties being eroded more and more over time. Once we realize it is a problem, its likely too late. It is important we support and utilize the benefits of privacy related projects to protect what remains of our privacy.
