Art of Ignorance

in #productivity4 years ago (edited)

You may have heard the phrase, "ignorance is bliss" many times already. To be honest with you, I hate it when someone is ignoring me. It is a big barrier in communication we are facing in today's world. If you have texted your best friend over the phone and haven't received a reply in 2 days, or were in a group of people where no one would listen to your opinion, you already know what I meant. I've seen relationships ending just because one was ignoring their partner.

Yeah, this is bad, I agree, but to a certain degree. Just think how many times you were trying to focus on something and instead, whenever there was a "ting" sound on your phone, you abandoned/paused your work and started checking the notification panel of your phone for something new. Yeah, I know you can relate to this because I fell victim to this same incident so many times. I wasted countless hours on the phone or on social media which I would spend studying otherwise. This is counterproductive and hampers serenity.

If we master the dark art of ignorance and utilize it for our own good, it can facilitate positive change. Here's how. Having a hard time focusing at work due to constant notifications? Put your ignorance skills into practice. Make an oath to ignore the very existence of your smartphone until you're done with the work at hand. Ignoring distractions can help you gain better results even when you're surrounded by crows. You can also use it in other situations, whenever you face a terrible time, you can ignore the impact of it and focus on how to improve the situation. This way, downtimes won't be able to put a dent on your emotional health. There are many more applications to the "art of ignorance," and I won't mention them all for you. It is your job to master this art, put it to good practice and see the result, and find the best use for it.

Best of luck productivity hunters.
