Increasing productivity is always a concern for new entrepreneurs. Many have home offices and could avoid every aspect of their business if they wanted to.

Yet, some entrepreneurs do more in a day than most people get done in a week.
They work hard, play hard and possess other qualities that make a major impact on their performance. Here’s what some really productive people do to ensure productivity.

  1. They start: Productive people care about precision and quality. However, it does not have to be perfect when they first start. They can tackle a project and figure it out along the way. An idea that is not started is nothing. Starting is the first avenue to increasing productivity.

  2. They don’t react to what other people think: The worker “I have a job” peer group is often concerned about what others think. This always affects productivity. The confusion for many new entrepreneurs is understanding that they are maneuvering to a new peer group. They are moving from the working masses to the business owning masses. It’s a completely different peer group and mindset. It’s like moving to a new school. Your peers are different. In the beginning, you may not know other entrepreneurs. The working crowd loves the “I fit in” attitude. Pleasing others by doing a good job can mean a promotion or a raise. Entrepreneurs love the “I stand out” mindset. If they hear criticism, it spurs them on, and they become more productive. They are not trying to please a boss. They are solving a problem and do not collapse because someone doesn’t approve. When the “I have a job” mindset hears criticism, it usually breaks their spirit down and they often emotionally collapse. This slows their productivity down. To increase productivity, you must begin to engage with your peer group. Find and begin to hang out with other entrepreneurs.

  3. They like being accountable: When increasing productivity it helps to have someone to be accountable to. If you are a new startup business and have a home office or are the sole person in your office, then it may be beneficial for you to have a business mentor or mastermind buddy. This can help you maintain an accountability level that will increase your productivity over time.

  4. They are organized: One of the key factors to increasing productivity is to simply be organized. There are levels of organization that can help you achieve greater productivity. Organized systems, production and tools will power productivity as it will speed up processes and completion times.

  5. They evaluate processes: Increasing productivity happens when you are working in the core aspect of your business and tweaking it to make it more efficient. This means evaluating your processes. This requires a level of awareness and creativity. Every business can increase productivity by paying attention to and evaluating how a process is done and then improving it.

Increasing productivity is an important aspect of a new startup. It saves money and time as well as gives better client care.
