The protesters blocked the Shahbag route in the capital demanding a notification to cancel the quota as announced by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. They blocked the Shahbagh route from Monday to 7pm on Monday.

Later, at around 7:30 pm, Joint Convenor of the movement Nurul Haque Noor said, we have learned that the Prime Minister will issue a quick notification of cancellation of the quota. So we announced today the suspension of the protest program. However, until the notification is issued, classes and examinations will be excluded from all the universities and colleges.

Earlier, students were gathering in front of Dhaka University's central library in the same demand today. Later they took out the procession. The procession started from the front of the central library, showing the important areas of the university, Shaheed Minar, Curzon Hall, High Court, Shishu Park and took part in the Shahbagh intersection.

In fact, students and job-seekers of various educational institutions have been protesting from Feb 17 this year to demand for the reform of the existing quota system. At one stage of the movement, on April 11, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina announced the annulment of the quota. Then the students demanded the publication of the announcement in the form of the notification of the Prime Minister. Not only did the notification give ultimatum to Zardari several times. The students again protested by blocking the Shahbagh route.
