This is a question that so many people has asked me, some of them because they are afraid about programming subject in the university, other ones because they think programmers only write “1” and “0” to give instructions to the computer and also you have to be a kind of genius or an E.T. to become a developer, but that’s not true at all.

In my perspective you need some skills to become a coder, such as analytics skills, logic, trouble shooting, and so on, but there are two that are essentials in this field, perseverance and discipline.

May be this sounds kind of crazy, but is the true. If you want to develop login, then you will need to face different situations where to apply it. If you want to develop analytics skill, then you should solve lots of troubles and all depends on your perseverance and discipline you are minded to use.

I start programming on c++ and was a great beginning because it’s a high level language (it’s like human language), even though the trouble shooting was kind of challenging turned out to be really funny. My advice if you want to start in this world is to start in a high level programming language such as c++, java or javascript, and take a list of programming problems (there are many on internet) and you solve them in language you choose. And if you want to clarify some doubts and reinforce what you have learned there’s nothing better than a much bigger project ( could be an users registration, an storage, a sales system), with this kind of projects is where all doubts come to arise and internet is plenty of resources to help you.

There’s a web page where all your doubts can be solved, is Stackoverflow https://stackoverflow.com, is a community where developers share their doubts and other answer them. It’s probably that another coder had your doubt, so you can check the answers that person got. Also you can check developers forums or read some online books.

So, to answer the question. Is it hard to become a programmer? Well, the answer is NO. You don’t even need a college degree to become one, lots of great programmers start learning by themselves, and the key for that is perseverance and discipline.

In the next post I will make a list of programming problems.

I would agree it's not hard to become a programmer, but it's not easy. It really does depends on how much a persons willing to put into it. Resilience is very important. If someone typically gives up easily or gets frustrated quickly then they may have some problems. Also, stackoverflow is my personal savior. Great post!

that's completely true, at the beginning I decided to give up, but then I keep trying and trying and now I can't live without coding

I feel the same way. It's like magic to me.

I feel sorry for people starting now. The field is so wide and so many different languages and frameworks that even deciding where to start is a nightmare :)

Nice post, Followed :)

Yeah, that's true..!! Thanks a lot..!!

I think most people believe that becoming a programmer is a difficult task because a lot of programmers make them believe that what they do is very hard. A lot of successful programmers and web designers are people who doesn't even have a CS degree, and they are happy with their job.
