Official Report Of STEEMUP OWERRI MEGA MEETUP Held On March 17th, 2018 — courtesy of project Euronation

in #promo-steem6 years ago (edited)

Steemians...greetings. I do hope we all had an interesting weekend holiday. The last few weeks have been very hectic for me as we were busy preparing for the first major meetup in Southeastern Nigeria. Thank God the meetup had come and gone; and as I rightly predicted, it remains the best meetup ever to happen in Southeastern Nigeria. And this article is the official report of what transpired during the event.

In the first place, what motivated me to choose Owerri, Imo state, to play host to this meetup was chiefly because of its strategic position, geopolitically, in relation to other Southeastern states. It is located centrally in the heart of Southeastern states and I, in consultation with @euronation leadership, felt since its location is central to other Southeastern states, steemit news would easily diffuse to the neighboring/surrounding states of we are able to steemit up the state.

The Meetup

We deliberately fixed the programme kick off time at 10am but expected it to start at 12 noon. We knew 10am wasn't feasible as people would be coming from neighboring states. It was only intended to gather as many people as possible before the programme kicks off. And exactly that happened. Attendees started trooping in at 8.30am and by 11.30am, the number of attendees is quite enough for the programme to start.

Attendance

Steemians from far and wide graced the occasion. Among our guest speakers, @ejemai @bania and @ogoowinner didn't attend, which was understandable as they had previously communicated us to excuse themselves for some valid reasons. Apart from that, other senior Nigerian Steemians were in attendance, including @tojukaka @ehiboss @mimy @gloglo @NairaDaddy @xpency @fisteganos @gbenga @samstickkz @michaelcj @gee1 @theheralds @dray91eu @drigweeu and @destinysaid.

It is estimated that the number on attendance is about 80 bloggers, 15 new attendees with no previous knowledge of Steemit and 4 investors.

It didn't cross my mind to take attendance until towards the end of the programme

Programme lecture topics

The event was declared open by @chrisdsteemsport having said opening prayer. It was followed by a brief welcome speech by myself @eurogee. And then, the invitation of the special guests to the high table, followed. The various topics and speakers who did a good job on them include...

@tojukaka — Interconnection between steem cryptocurrency, steemit and the blockchain technology

The birth of #Owerri-steem team

The attendees were full of praises for the meetup, hailing it as the very best. In order to keep track of the Owerri residents and ensure they don't backside into dormancy, I created a whatsaap group from where I intend to continue to educate them and answer any questions they may have. Hence, the meetup can be said to be successful.
