For years, we've hosted a day, where we invite anyone who wants to come bake Christmas Cookies, and help us have some baking fun! Today, was that day...
Dough is made, and rising...
Frosting is made, coloured, and sprinkles are ready to be sprinkled...
Cookies were CUT and ready for baking!

Sadly, the Cookie Gods were NOT amused that they did NOT get a personal invite... and so, it was payback for our disturbing Hubris.
...so, after the first batch of cookies came out of the oven, The Oven started beeping, and flashing lights... and then,
The Christmas Cookie, Day Of Days was over, almost before it began. Dead oven, means, a very challenging time, baking.
Last March, for those who know me, may remember, we began We undertook some long overdue house projects, including a mini renovation of our kitchen. 1st step? Replace the tired old floor.
1 The Floor guys broke an extremely nice oven/range stovetop.
2 The movers we were using to pack up the heavy items, broke the replacement Stove, on the steps getting (Sorry, attempting to get) the Stove into the house.
3 The replacement for the replacement stove died as soon as it was fired up the first time it went into the house.
4 The replacement for THOSE stoves (who goes through three stoves in one week?) died today. That's 4 in less than a year.
5 Due here Monday. All the other replacements were used or cheapo. I love my kitchen and cooking, so, NO going cheap... (The thinking was, we are selling, no sense spending a lot.)
Still, a good time was had by all, and the little ones here had a fun time. We'll bake some this week, and ship the replacement stoves' replacement cookies, soon.
The women all enjoyed catching up, while I went outside to the garqage, to get some ice melt salt for the front steps and walk, since it had snowed and then some freezing rains came thru... we were inside not really baking.
As I hit the button to close the garage door, I heard what sounded like a LOUD SHOT, saw bits of wood flying, and then heard glass shattering. Our garage door exploded. It's dark and rainy, so, I pulled as much of what was left of the garage door closed, ignored all the damage, and went inside... sprinkling ice melt on my walkways and steps...
As if that wasn't bad enough, my niece just texted this:
EDIT: Later tonight, after posting, I bit a cookie, and cracked a tooth on a non-pareil. This day sucks and cannot end fast enough...

I was all filled with Christmas cheer as I was scrolling down and reading. Then WHAM! Now I am like Mr. Grinch all over again. Maybe you all need to just fast forward to Christmas 2022.

WOW I think cookie monster was infuriated or something that he was not invited to the party that is a series of unfortunate events. Who goes through 4 stoves in a year?!?! only you bluefin lol
However, even with all of those crazy occurrences it still looks like everybody is just happy to be together enjoying one's company
