These Deer sure do make grass look tasty! These are my original shots taken in the afternoon of August 20th, 2022 from my backyard.

This is about as close as I could get, after the first few shots with the camera they usually hear me and stampede away. This is their favorite spot in the yard, it's a dried up riverbed in the Summer, but it still holds channels enough moisture to grow some "juicy" grass and Ginger roots. Lately the area has been crawling with wild Axis Deer, it was such a sunny day I couldn't pass up the opportunity to capture some more wild Maui photography.

damn - this truly looks like nature's healing
These Deer sure do make grass look tasty. It's like they're nature's own lawnmowers, chomping away at the grass and keeping our lawns looking neat and tidy. But as cute as they may be, deer can also be a nuisance. They often destroy crops and spread disease, which is why many people view them as pests.
Despite their bad reputation, deer are an important part of the ecosystem. They help to control the population of other animals and plants, and their droppings provide nutrients that help to fertilize the soil.
Nice shots friend
Thanks for the comment, I agree there's a lot of pros and cons concerning the wild Axis Deer overpopulation out here.
On one hand Deer can be a nuisance, eating everything that isn't fenced off, on the other hand the need for fencing creates barriers to entry into for the farmers decreasing competition. I know I won't be farming as much until I get more fences in, in the past it was way easier to grow everything out here.
Some other advantages of the deer overpopulation is that they provide a lot of meat for hunting, Deer Meat, smoked Venison, is one of my favorites to be honest, and these days it's readily available.
Luckily we don't have Lime Disease here on the islands, so worrying about their Ticks spreading disease isn't an issue.
If I am not mistaken The Jurassic Park movie filmed at Maui. I watched a YouTube video, the youtuber went to these locations. It's pretty amazing, you live near to a forest. I wish one day I could be there too!
