What Happened After Walk Of Shame.

in #proofofbrain2 years ago

In the bid to put an end to the incessant killings and police brutality, thousands of Nigerian youths took to the streets across the whole nation in a protest which has come to be known as "Endsars". A protest about the ills and social injustice of a system supposed to protect them, but rather against them.

It was the first time in the history of the nation for such a number of her citizens to protest about what socially and politically militate against them hence the "Sorosoke generation" that is a generation that speaks up the likes of which has never been heard of. But instead of this protest to have been an avenue for the government to address the issue for which the protest was all about: the ills plaguing our society, the government instead and unfortunately troded the step that led to tragedy and carnage in which peaceful protesters lost their lives and for which this event will never be forgotten because the horror of that day will forever be ingrained in our collective memory:

The Lekki Massacre. The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwoolu's initiative of organizing a peace walk to foster unity and peace against misinformation for the Nigerian youths, especially the Lagos youths after the report of the judicial panel charged with the responsibility to investigate into Lekki Massacre in June 2O, 2020, is devoid of any real, substantive, significant and remorseful aim. This peace walk is nothing, but a patronizing and paternalistic initiative to fulfill all moral righteousness – it is more of a gala walk to exercise the body for an accumulation of excess fat. If this walk is anything at all, it is a walk of shame and disgrace.

For more than a year, and up to this present moment, the gruesome Lekki Massacre have been denied by the Lagos State Authority in the most axiomatically truth aberrating discourse. Not only did the unscrupulous Lagos State Authority denied to have given orders to soldiers to shoot at the protesters, they have also blatantly denied the fact there was ever any dead among the protesters and that even in face of a viral and irrefutable video that clearly showed the soldiers shooting at peaceful protesters.

The Lagos State Authority has not been the only one sugar-coating the truth – some of the Federal Government’s agents like the Minister of Information, Lai, a pathological liar, insisted that there was never any dead. The Minister of Housing and Workings, Babatunde Fashola, who provided us with a comic relief during the grieving period by turning himself to Nigeria’s own James Bond picking up evidence on scenes, was not able to reveal to us anything in the end, but a mendacious reiteration of what Lai has said.

And so, When the Governor says this peace walk is for the youths for unity and against misinformation, to which misinformation does he allude to here? Is this to say that there was no death casualty in the Lekki Massacre? It is this perpetual denial of the State Authority of Lagos State that makes this peace walk a circus walk for clowns, because this Authority have obviously refused, in their denialism, to atone and recognize that orders were given to the soldiers to shoot at the protesters and which indeed carried out by these weaponized minions on the protesters who patriotically were holding up the Nigerian flag thinking the soldiers won't do what they suspected they will do when they shot up in the air.

Furthermore, this peace walk of is of no consequentiality given the fact the report of the judicial panel charged with responsibility of looking into the Lekki Massacre have some time now released the report of their finding in which it is established that people, protesters were indeed killed others maimed in the process. But this report is leaked one, the original has not been made public. Why is the report withheld from the public and masses?

This withholding of report further throws shade at how farcical this peace walk is of something empty of any true intention.
Consequently, there is a witch-hunt going on to clamp down all the Endsars activists. A list of these activists has since surfaced, which they were marked to be eliminated. This behooves us to critically ask if this peace walk is really what it is, when activists are planned to be wiped behind the scenes.
As Rinu said, “you will walk alone” and that the Governor of Lagos State with his sycophants and political partisans, lackeys of a mafia government who lack basic human traits, will walk the streets of Lagos alone.
