Around this time last year I rightfully earned the tag 'Bum' because of a delay in a loan payment. I had put myself in a position where I was disrespected, and in addition, I was going to forfeit my hive account as it was the collateral for the said loan. That was everything I had worked for in the last 8 years.
Today I made my largest hive purchase (about 7,500 hive). To put things into perspective, according to Peakd, I have earned a total of 22,431 hive from Hive in the last 7 years. So that's approximately 33% of the entire hive I have earned. Also, all things being equal, I should have approximately that amount in my alt account--my gift to my kids (if they ever need it) before the year runs out. There were times I could only dream of days like this one.
There have been many times in my hive journey where I was attacked for just being a creator who was adding value in the only way he could. I was accused of milking the chain, when in reality, it was my only source of income. Today I don't need to create content on hive (I would rather spend the time with my kids).
Moving from someone who earned hive (to survive) to one who buys hive feels liberating. To think there was a time I had write and engage daily to earn less than €200 in a month is wild to me, coupled with the notion that people/community where doing me a favour. It was a disturbing thought.
The straw that broke the proverbial camel's back for me was after a supposed paid hive campaign and we (the participants) were threatened because we demanded for our rewards (that were delayed). It was a blatant disregard for my time and devotion, and I vowed not to be in that position again.
Thankfully, I don't need to answer to anyone or pander to big accounts (some of which are jerks, and are responsible for the state of the chain currently) for upvote. It feels really good giving the middle finger to all that silliness I had to endure for many years.
Nevertheless, I still very much appreciate what this Blockchain stands for and all the people who helped me on my journey (many of which are no longer here). I may never need a penny from hive again, but I do want to see how things pan out for this Blockchain in the long run.
I do hope (both for sentimental reasons and my personal investment) that hive reaches it potential. It is still the best Blockchain, unfortunately, that doesn't account for much in this sphere.

Under 20 cents is a good price for me. Hive will hit .40 sometime in the next 2-4 years, I can wait.
